Mine read like this:
"The Committee on Admission has reviewed your application and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware, is unusually strong; so are your achievements outside the classroom. In your experience, students who have distinguished themselves in such a wide range of activities tend to move successfully through their college years and into positions of leadership in their fields of interest. I trust that this will be the case with you and I encourage you to continute to challenging yourself. Please give serious consideration to the U of VA as the place where you might continue to grow and thrive." It then talks about Thomas Jefferson and visiting campus...it ends with, "THe committee on Admission will make its final decisions over the course of the next several weeks. In the meantime, we wish you every sucess, and we hope to see you on Grounds.
Sincerely, John A. Blackburn..."

yea that's what i got too.... congrats by the way. :)

Thanks Harping...same goes for you

I think that letter stays the same every year.

Wow, I got one today as well

I'm so excited

Congratulations, game guy! :)

lol got the same letter as well. Wasn't sure if it qualified as a likely letter though, but congrats to everyone else!

I think we have established that it is indeed a likely letter, and that you are being considered for rodman/echols.

I got mine today, too! yay

i had called uva once, and i thought they said i was in the top 5% of the applicants or soemthing, but i am sure i heard the number 5 %. i was very nervous during the time. my gpa= 4.4 and sat is 1320. do u guys really think i am in top 5%?

it seems like everyone is getting the letter; this can't be a good thing ?

haha are u saying uva doesnt have high standards?

Everyone on CC seems to be getting the letter, danielbess, but that's because everyone on CC is pretty good.

iloveuva: They must have liked something about you!

I have a question... I got one of those letters but I am not going to attend UVA... should I withdraw my application so someone esle can get accepted instead or does the admissions process at UVA not work that way?

Do you know for sure that you're not going? Did you get in ED somewhere else?

Yes I am sure I am not going... I was just wondering if withdrawing my application could potentially help anyone.

As someone who didn't receive a letter, your mentality alone is really appreciated (whether or not the system would work like that).

I don't think it's so simple. I mean, sure you withdraw now but if you just end up not going they can accept people off the waitlist.

My DD reports she got the letter yesterday, dated the 15th of Feb, but postmarked the 1st of Mar. She is a US resident, but is in school out of the country and also got the international student email, so I am not sure how that all works, I don;t know if they consider her in the international pool or not- they shouldn't, but I guess they can do anything they please.

cavalier-- what COULD they have liked about me... i'm not smart, not good ec's.. i'm just mediocre.
btw, do you really think i'm in top 5%.
