Letter?

I must say that I did not recieve a letter, which may have something to do with a little problem with my SATs not being recieved by any of the colleges I sent them to (I recently learned of this when Princeton, Wake Forest, and Richmond sent me letters hinting as much), but I sincerely believe that the letter is nothing more than propaganda. One has to remember UVA has many great institutions it competes with. Even if the above requirements had been met beforehand, I sincerely doubt I would have gotten a letter judging by the fact that I have been to the campus twice, signed the mailing list, have alumni relations, and my brother is currently a Wahoo. Thus, I sincerely believe that the letter is to recruit and give potential leaders and assets to the campus the direction they need to come to UVA. For example, someone from Michigan said they got a letter; someone from California said they got a letter. Have you heard of Berkeley or Ann Arbor? Those are the main public universities that compete with UVA on a regular basis. Thus, if you got a letter, congratulations, you are more than likely in, but do not hold your breath waiting for an Echols offer or Rodman offer, as I found out, even when you think everything is solid, something inauspicious can be lurking right around the corner.

By the way, all of the universities were cool about the situation, so far. I hope UVA will be the same. I would hate to think my 1570 would go to waste.

That was a smooth way of throwing your SAT score in haha.

Just got a letter today, post marked the 28th. I guess they send them as they read them? last name is M, northern VA... wonder what order they go in

Congrats! I want to get one, but too bad UVA doesn't send any to internationals. :(

Question to the people that got letters???

Did the letters have the real pen INK signature of John Blackburn (Dean of Admissions)or who ever signed it at the bottom???? or was it just a fotocopy blue signature (like the letters of ED for UVA)?????

Just wondering if it was a mass mailing or more personal???

JMIONE1:

I just checked my letter and it has the blue signature that I assume was printed with the letter.

Just got a letter today, about five minutes ago! I'm so excited - didn't think I'd be getting one.

The letter's dated 2/28; I sent in my app 1/24... Apparently they have a pretty fast turnover. I live in Michigan.

Some people have posted their stats so I suppose I will, as well:
1490 (800v but 690m)
800wr/780miic/740ushist
4.1 w, 3.9ish uw - probably should calculate it one of these days
I think I had great recs (one outstanding one I know of) and pretty good essays... but then again who doesn't think that? ;)

Coelomate, since you got a letter dated the 28th, too, it leads me to think that they're sending letters out in waves. Hopefully more of us will be getting them soon!

I got my letter today too! It was postmarked yesterday and dated 2/28. I thought I wasn't going to get one since I hadn't already and I live an hour from the campus...

Stats:

SAT-1550 (800v, 750m)
Rank-1/400
GPA-4.0/4.65
Courseload-hardest possible, 10 APs, yada yada yada
Major-physics
ECs-varsity track, various music ensembles, full time work at a law firm, etc.

instate, but that doesn't matter for the likely letters because they are for people in consideration for echols/rodman, which is blind to instate/out of state status...

BTW, about the order that we've been receiving them in...I noticed that Coelomate is from NoVa, has a last name beginning with M, and got his recently with a date of 2/28. I'm from NoVa, have a last name beginning with M, got mine today, and it's dated 2/28. Maybe they're doing them in order?

Congrats Cavalier and Gracilisae!!

Now we can all go to UVa together lol.

I hope you aren't bitter anymore Cav, I told you you were going to get one.

Yay Cav (and Legend/Zant, of course)!! I'm so excited now that we've all received our letters... Perhaps we'll end up having our Gatsby parties after all... excellent. :)

My last name begins with a C, but perhaps they're only sending them alphabetically in-state.

I think they send a whole batch out on the same day. They are pretty efficient though, already two batches!

UVa is an excellent school to have Gatsby parties at.

lol, it is, and no, i am no longer bitter :) .

finally i can be excited about the college process again... i have been stressing since last october but now it's comforting to know there's a strong possbility i will have a home for next year other than u mich

wow what a stream of conciousness lowercase one a.m. post...

bitter people = bad
bitter (dark) chocolate = good
bitter coffee = good
that's key to remember

you mean 2/28 surely?

whoops..yeah 2/28

just curious, what does a likely letter from UVa say?
