i completely agree with dunkaroo. honestly, some people may, but there's really no point. i'm not ashamed to have people i don't know and will probably never meet know what my real scores/stats/ec's/etc are.

my real sat score is 450. damn. i'm embarrassed.

I have never lied about my stats nor exaggerated. I have predicted scores, but i usually say like SAT IIs-over 650, as a prediction....

I got a 1240,1260,1370 on SAT, and that is no lie...

I believe there is a self-eliminating quality to the boards here. The kids who are not obsessed or over-achievers are not here.
I do think that some fib, but I think more brag. I sometimes wonder if they speak of these stats here, because they can't always at school. One daughter, now at Berkeley, was quite the over-achiever, but she hid it from all of her friends. They were very surprised to find she was third in the class and winning scholarships. Everybody's different.

It would depress me if people lied to gain acceptance on an onine forum... it's not like you know the people.

I actually sort of downplayed my stats and ECs, just so I could get a sense of how I can do even without seeing everything that I've done. In some weird logic of mine, I figured at least I wouldn't be disappointed?

I don't care about the scores some people post. I'm proud of my 1300.

Hey smart thinking!

"All in all it's just another brick in the Wall!"

I figured that if I get good predictions with lesser stats, I don't really need to feel overwhelmed to fill my resume with loads and loads of things, or fret about my numericals.

Well if they lie on here, they'll probably lie on their app, and then they'll be screwed.

"What goes around, comes around"

Heh IGN boards? IGN is terrible, Andrew. Ya know.... you can't spell Ignorant without IGN....

Haha

5K+ posts on those boards. LOL!

Have you ever noticed how everyone on CC claims to have "excellent recommendations" or something to that effect?

Well guys lemme tel ya sth .. according to the percentiles in my sat scores sheet LESS than 1% of ALL the candidates get 800 verbal and exactly 1% get 800 maths. So the chances r:

some ppl r lieing OR

All of the 800 scorers are taking part in this forum (which in my opinion is not the case)

Cheerz

As AndrewD very kindly put his scores as a proof u can all c the percentile. 730 and he is in the top 2%.

From this forum i got the impression that s.o. with verbal of like 750 will hardly be in the top 10% ...

Cheerz x 2 !

730 = 98% WTF?!
I had 720 = 95% (International SAT taken in May)

A friend of mine had 720 (9th october 2004) and he had 97%. I dunno y u got 95% ...

Oops, mixed the scores up. I actually had 700 on the Verbal, so that's why I got 95%. I did not lie, though, just my messy thinking :D

I think either people embellish, or the forums just happen to attract an elite group of students to them that want people to confirm what they already know. I'm happy with my 1310 SAT and 3.4 GPA which seems very low compared to the majority of students on the site, it appears that most on this sight represent the top applicants to all colleges
