Liberal Arts Program Closed at UIUC?

Hi - one of the schools I'm transferring to, UIUC, has closed their LAS program for transfer applicants. Is this normal? That's a HUGE group of majors that transfer applicants don't have access to now. Has anyone else noticed this problem? I'm stunned - the deadline isn't for almost another month. What gives?

I think I remember reading on their website somewhere when I was looking at UIUC that they reserve the right to close admissions to different programs to transfer students once they have accepted the number they decided to accept. I'd probably call the admissions office to make sure though.

I sent an e-mail to UIUC and just want to let anyone who read this post know that the LAS program is open only to those with at least 60 transferable credits. The website is a little confusing but don't let it deter you.

I was wondering about this too. I have 2 questions:

I am a Sophomore right now, and have 53 credit hours so far, (6 credits are from AP Classes from HS, and 47 from the first 3 semesters at college). I am taking 15 this semester, so I would have 68 hours by the Fall '07 semester (the semester at UIUC I was going to apply to). Does the 60 hours include all hours you would have completed by the time you enter UIUC in the fall? Or is it the credits you've completed by the time you apply?

Also, almost all classes are 3 hours at my school (Virginia Tech). Most at UIUC are 3 as well, but some are 4. For example, Intro to Psych is 3 credits here, but 4 credits there, so does that mean if I got transfer credit it would be 3 credits, or 4 (just like as if I had taken the class there)?

buuump. sorry i REALLY need an answer to my Q
