Congrats to those who got this or something similar:

Dear ************:

We’re excited that you have applied for Fall 2006 admission to the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego! As a top applicant to the university, we know you’d like to know a little more about our school.

The Jacobs School is a premier research school set apart by our entrepreneurial culture and integrative engineering approach. We are the youngest and fastest rising among the nation’s top 15 engineering schools and the largest engineering school in the renowned University of California system.

The Jacobs School provides an education that focuses on engineering fundamentals beginning in the freshman year, and we offer a broad range of opportunities for hands-on engineering experience. Our education extends beyond the classroom to research in our world-class laboratories, active student organizations, team engineering programs, and corporate internship opportunities - all of which develop skills that make our graduates highly competitive in industry and academia.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sending you emails to let you know what’s so great about being a student at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering.

Sincerely,
Engineering Student Services
UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering

Coming next week…find out how our innovative Team Engineering programs allow our students to apply theory to real-world challenges in the community and corporate environments.

Are you sure that they don't send that e-mail out to ALL engineering applicants? At the very bottom it also says that the e-mail doesn't imply admission to UCSD or Jacobs.

I got one too. I don't think it means anything.

if you also receive an invitation to UCSD's Scholar Day, it means something

Have they sent those out yet?

That email doesn't mean anything, think of it more as a confirmation that you applied to write school inside UCSD. Now if you got the regents invitation, then you should put that in your "acceptance letters" pile (which have not been sent out yet).

As a top applicant to the university, we know you'd like to know a little more about our school.

i wish that means something

i applied for enginnering and never got that email

If it is like UCB's Diversity Program, they are sent out "selectively."

Scroll down to the bottom of that email. You should see a fine print like so: "Please note that receipt of this email does not constitute or guarantee admission to UCSD or the Jacobs School."
