Likely Letter Came Today

every single applicant is evaluated in a round table discussion. That’s what my interviewer told me and she worked in admissions. Everyone’s application is read entirely and not automatically rejected based on any one specific factor. Hope that helps :)

Being a native american is one of the biggest hooks. It is worth applying with any stats, even say an 1800+ can mean viable candidacy.

Does anyone know how many, on average, Native American applicants Duke receives each year? And how many of them do they admit?

For the class of 2015, Native American, American Indian, Native Alaskan, and Native Hawaiian students made up 1 percent of the incoming class.

I received my Duke likely letter on 2/25/12. I am not a URM or recruited athlete.

Just got an invite to BSAI! Wasn’t expecting it at all.

^ Are you Black?

^Well, yes…

So, how likely are these likely letters? I’m assuming it’s not a guarantee right?

they send out about 300-350 every year

Does anyone know anything about Duke’s scholarship days? Should LL recipients be first on the list to be invited? I got one, and I’ve heard nothing from BNDuke or ABDuke. I heard that I’d be considered for all merit scholarships simply by applying. But now it seems that there’s an application process. I’m so ****ed!

^^ What is “scholarship days”? Where did you hear about it? I thought they only had 60 merit based scholarships (AB, BN, Robertson, and one other ?)

i got an invite to BSAI, which is basically a likely letter. I’m surprised cuz my sat is only 1930…but i just suck at test taking and i took it only twice cuz my cup of care was basically empty lol. My other stats are good

4.65 gpa unweighted
1/200 rank
all honors/AP classes with A’s and no B’s on high school transcript
bunch of Extra Curricular’s + leadership
born in zambia

Just have to see how good fin aid is though! that will be the deciding factor on many schools

you english is quite…

^^^ if u r referring to me i live in the US lol

AB duke already went out, I’m one of the 44 finalists

@zambia123: lolz lolz I love the “cup of care” expression you used ;)

Receiving likely letters doesn’t mean you’re automatically shortlisted for the scholarships.
