Likely letters from Vandy?

I've read that many top schools send out likely letters to top applicants in February. Anyone know if Vandy does this?

As far as I know they send MOSAIC invites to minority (non-white) students that are top notch in the middle of feburary, which is equivalent to a likely letter or even more so an acceptance letter.

Thanks, so I guess we’re still waiting until the end of March!

and not all top-notch minority students will be invited to MOSAIC so all of you who have applied to Vandy, sit tight. Many excellent minority students will be admitted in the Regular Decision cycle just like everyone else and a lack of invitation to MOSAIC is not a “sign” that you will not be admitted…far from it. Vandy’s excellent financial need offerings kick in no matter how you get into Vanderbilt, recruited early or not, and you will find that all the students in your class were scholarship etc worthy.

Don’t worry too much about not getting a likely letter. I got in RD last year and never received any news at all until the big admissions packet when the final decisions were made. Don’t worry about emails either – if it’s anything like last year, they will not disclose admissions decisions through any form of communication except mail.

Good luck!

This has probably been asked somewhere before, but are Southeast Asians (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.) considered minorities at Vanderiblt? Last time I checked, I think Vanderbilt had a really low number of Asians.

Yes Asian Americans are considered minorities at Vanderbilt and receive MOSAIC invites.

Again, many Asian American applicants will be admitted in RD cycle but will not hear from the MOSAIC weekend committee people. They can’t invite everyone of a minority background out of 25 thousand plus applicants to MOSAIC, and strong candidates are not always invited. don’t let the lack of such an invitation discourage you. Attending Vanderbilt in August of next year is a new starting line and everyone starts completely fresh to meet their challenges. If you want to attend Vanderbilt, your financial need aide will be superb whether you are invited to MOSAIC or not.

got my likely letter today. to God be the glory

How about middle-eastern applicants? (This ethnicity is considered “white” on the common app, but it obviously doesn’t fit that definition for some countries…)

got mine 2 days ago. To God be the glory
