likely letters

does vandy ever send out likely letters?

Yeah. Or things that are like likely letters.

My D who applied RD to Vanderbilt received a likely letter today. We live in the middle part of the US and she is NOT a recruited athlete! It came in the US mail.

She is very excited.

I received one as well today in MA… I was quite surprised!!!

Forgot to add… it was for Mosaic!

D received a likely letter too with an invite to mosaic weekend! She is planing to go to the mosaic event. She us very happy. she got the letter today.

I got the mosaic weekend letter today too! This is my first college acceptance so I am very excited. I will mostly likely be attending the event. YAY!

We will be out of town on vacation that weekend–already have plane tickets and all–so D will not be able to attend. But, she did go to preVU so she got a really good feel for the campus at that time.

I hope those that attend will post about it as she and I will be interested in hearing about it.

What is mosaic?

It’s a multicultural recruitment program. They invite minority students to the campus for a weekend in march.

My D never received a likely letter but she was accepted RD a couple years ago. If you don’t hear anything, that doesn’t mean anything one way or the other.

so presumably they only send likely letters to minorities…what a surprise

Has anyone who is not a minority received any kind of likely letter? Or do they only send out letters related to Mosaic?

I just think it’s funny that Vanderbilt tries to recruit Asians as well as other minorities. I think it’s the only college where being Asian helps.

mentorhockey22 - I don’t think you have your facts straight. Vanderbilt only invites minorities to Mosiac. Because you’re a minority, it doesn’t mean you’re going to get a likely letter and if you’re not a minority it doesn’t mean you’re going to get a likely letter either.

Edit: Those people were only saying that they got invited to Mosiac so that is their “likely letter.”

Is Filipino considered a minority?

Regardless, I never got a letter so that may not be a good sign. Heck, Vanderbilt is my reach school anyways so I’m not too surprised.

lol, how is being asian a minority? that is seriously a good one…

Asians aren’t as abundant here as they are in other top schools. Or, let me clarify, Asian-Americans. We have plenty of Malaysians…

I may be misinterpreting what some people are saying but you seem to be saying that if you get an invitation to Mosaic, that is a likely letter? Because I received an invitation to Mosaic but did not read it thoroughly because I thought it was something Vanderbilt sent to everyone…oops =/

If I’m not mistaken, MOSAIC invite is typically an auto-acceptance. Just don’t do anything stupid.

hahaha then yippeeee! i wish i had actually read it through/known what it was so i could celebrate properly!! and considering its almost midnight and i have yet to start my english paper…i am being a little stupid :)
