^ i dunno...i suck at essays....:(

Well most definitely I do not have a crazy near-perfect SAT score. Maybe the essay complements my abysmal Writing score? =p

yeah so I just realized I typed "SCEA" a gazillion times, when I really meant "SEAS".. freaking single choice early action

My stats:

8 APs - 6 fives and 2 fours.

Attended leadership Seminars and few leadership awards
An oustanding Music CD supplement on two of my piano recitals
2 summers of research and camps in biomedical engineering
Awesome Recs from teachers and counselors and my research mentor
A great personal essay and why essay for biomedical engineering
Few National Awards including NCTE Writing and National AP Scholar and National Merit Finalist...etc

and other random awards and stuff...

yeah shawtysqrpants... those SATs , although excellent, aren't the typical sort of columbia scores.... what else did u have involved? in terms of ECs, recommendations, essays etc etc

So I had my interview. It was a lot more businesslike than my other ones, but that's not a surprise since I got a strict 30 minutes time slot. Anyway, I did OK; I'm more used to laid back interviews, so the constant barrage of questions kinda threw me off.

Everytime I said "if I get into Columbia" there was an addendum in my head of "I already did so please don't screw me over." :-)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but are all of you SEAS applicants or CC?

niceguy2011 said he rec'ed one for columbia college

I was reading something that said Columbia did not do likely letters for the college but did for seas... not sure if this IS the case for certain, but it does seem to fit the trend on this forum

did all the likely letters come by email?

I believe so

Email first then a letter the day after

COOL!!! congrats!! would you guys mind posting your stats up, and also, the topic of your essays?

^^the only person who i can see would get one of these 'likely letters'

Mm agreed. I'm just another white girl from Maine :p

White male for SEAS (I think this really helped)

Student Council President
Lots of involvment in theater (wrote essay about my director)

After having an interview the week before, the interviewer told me "Have fun at Columbia." He asked a bunch of rapid-fire questions, and I sucessfully answered them rapid-fire. Yeah improv.

I guess I was lucky. I am in Orchestra, am very involved in National society of black engineers, elected as an ambassador for the new program at my school, national achievement winner, AP scholar with distinction, Georgia scholar, the STAR student for my school. I do a lot of tutoring and my essay was about my mission trip to New Orleans gutting a woman's house. I think the main thing they are looking for other than academic excellence is character.

Oh yeah and I did apply to SEAS

Do they send likely letters to all they plan on accepting? My friend applied but didn't get one, so does that mean she didn't get in?
