Living in Parkside Apartments FRESHMAN YEAR?

I have both autism and Crohn's Disease that needed the housing accommodations of my own bedroom and a kitchen. After going through the whole DPS process and housing reassignment juggle, I landed my own bedroom in parkside apartments :). It didn't matter to me who I was housed with in terms of the type of student (freshman, sophmore, etc.) as long as I got my accommodations met. I know parkside is upperclass undergraduate housing. So, just wondering, is there any advice about living with people who are not in the same class? How will life be different than housing with freshmen?

P.S. I am a freshman starting in the fall.

Congrats on your acceptance, your decision to attend and your tenacity in getting the housing you need. Probably my biggest piece of advice would be to seek out friendships with other freshmen. Typically the housing situation - being in a complex filled with freshmen - allows and encourages connections with others in your class. You will have to pursue those connections.

Good luck!

You’ll find nice people on your floor and should find people in your major or clubs for your interest. Then your experience will be pretty much the same. My freshman year in Pardee my hall was mostly empty because so many guys were pledging frats and a handful ended up leaving the floor to move into their houses for spring semester. Sometimes I felt like I had half the floor to myself.
