Essay summary, Talked about the struggle of growing up with both parents not going to high school and my mother working three jobs ( Taco Bell cashier, A stadium janitor and a maid) to keep me in a good school school district. My mom and I were homeless and had to live in an motel 6 for a few months and lived in our car we also had to move around a lot bc we couldn’t afford rent and was evicted about 7 times through out high school. I turned it around to show how even with my circumstances it made me work harder in school but also I hope it will make up for freshman and first semester sophomore year grades bc I honestly was under alot of stress to help my mom come up with money and a place to live. I dont want it to come across as a sob story I want to show them I am willing to work. I also had struggles with severe depression go into depth.
Since I live in Seattle I was also will needing will it be harder for me to get financial aid. Also does LMU use weighted or UW gpa?

Did you run the NPC on the website??

LMU doesn’t meet need. While it’s a private so being OOS doesn’t matter in regards to “price,” you won’t get a Cal grant to help pay for it, which I suspect LMU likes using to help with aid.

@Seattlelivin I think you have great shot at getting into LMU. Your grades and test scores are competitive, and since LMU has a focus on social justice issues, they should be impressed by your community service work. Your accomplishments are all the more impressive because of the things you have had to overcome. While LMU doesn’t guarantee to meet need, they will hopefully give you an aid package that is workable for you. Good luck!

Honestly to me it seems like you have a pretty good shot especially considering I was accepted last week and have slightly lower GPA and test scores than you. Obviously no one can say for sure than your in, but best of luck to you!
