Alright, so I'm kind of bummed out by all these people talking about 1500 SAT's getting LOA's in the mail. I'm just wondering if you guys think my chances of getting one are.

SAT Math: 720
SAT Verbal: 640
6th out of a class of 216
Eagle Scout
4.598 GPA weighted, 3.723 something unweighted
Marching Band all four years, Low Brass Captain Senior year
Member of NHS, Treasurer of the Interact Club, Member of French Club
Varsity Cross Country senior year, earned a letter (the letter part isn't on my Candidate Activities Record - I'm about to give the Regional Director a call to see if that can be added)
Community service at Habitat for Humanity, Homeless Shelter, etc.
Went to SS (Session two), I'm not sure about ranking or anything, or if they even still do that, but I think I made a pretty good impression there - I did well enough on the CFA, and when my squad leader asked me what my will to go to the Academy was on a scale of 1 to 10 I said 11.

Alright so basically I just want to know what you guys think... should I be expecting an LOA or am I gonna be on hold for a while?
Thanks.

You're looking extremely good. You might not get an LOA, but you have a pretty decent shot at an appointment. Good luck with nominations and the rest of the process!

Don't worry though, remember, I think someone said something about only 300 LOA's go out a year. I'm sure I'm not gonna get an LOA, but that's not gonna stop me from getting that appointment. If you have the right mind set, you can do it.

Your goal should be to obtain an appointment to the academy. An LOA is not necessary and if that is your goal you stand a high probability of being disappointed. You need to keep your sights on I-day.

LOA's mean nothing, so don't get all worried about them. Concentrate on what's important, the Nomination, the Appointment, doing well in school this year, staying healthy and enjoying your Senior year. How you gain admission is of no importance, especially once you are standing there on I-Day being yelled at wondering "exactly WHY did I want to do this?" You stand a very good chance of gaining admission with what you stated, so best of luck to you.

Yeah, I know it's not an essential part to getting an appointment, but I'm the kind of person that likes to know...you know. Anyways, thanks for the advice, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all you people - I hope I see you on I-Day.
