GREAT GRAND NEWS! That's what you've been waiting for. Now, as has often been said here (tongue in cheek, of course! :p) buy a bunch of bubble wrap and clothe him in it, keep the lad working in school, do your pushups and running, and take your vitamins.

Wonderful news and congrats to the lad and his family that's supported him in arriving @ this point. Pretty exciting, pretty cool!

Pnutfan - Congratulations. The blue folder is the real deal.
Our son's appointment arrived in the mail on the same day as his scheduled telephone interview with Senator's selection team. When the our son got the phone call for the interview, he told him that the blue folder arrived earlier that day. They said Congratulations and thank you. They then went on to their next candidate. Your son can contact his MOC and let them know that he has already received his appointment. He is no longer competition for the rest of the candidates in your district.
The bubble wrap talk is a joke, but becomes more real as I-Day gets closer. Our son was goofing around after track practice one day and broke his finger. He then had a remedial from DodMerb. All we had to do was send doctor's paperwork showing that it was a slight fracture and healed. It wasn't a difficult thing to do, but it added to the fear factor that something could happen to change everything.

CONGRATS to those receiving admissions. My son is VERY excited that he got candidate weekend offer - is going next weekend. His blue and gold officer told him to dress "Sharp" and take more casual clothes. Officer called him back that evening to say he would shadow a plebe and not have much physical activity -mostly following around. He is hoping he will get to go visit the crew center again. He has been to crew camp summers past and talked with the coach -but now this is his year. We have our fingers crossed-figured the weekend gives USNA a chance to judge him.

larry...a VERY good sign, CVW! Intermediate indicators like this one make the wait not quite so agonizing, or at least a little more encouraging and bearable. And that's the ultimate idea ...patience, persistance, perseverance. One foot in front of the other. See it as a lamp guiding and illumining each step, but only able to see a step or two forward. When we're dying for a sealed beam headlight!:( Take heart, your son and his backers should. Use CVW to listen, learn, drink it in, like any icy cold root beer with a frothy head. :0 All too soon, starting with I Day, it'll be like Niagara Falls coming at him. And soon, you'll hopefully be wondering, what was I worrying about? ;)

Good luck and keep us posted. It's so wonderful living vicariously through you and your young man, renewing the joy and excitement that blue folder delivered while observing the amazing opportunities it would signal. BCGs and all ...

larry2013, this is zanerdude09's mom (I am changing computers so getting all log-ins, etc transferred is a slow process)....anyway, appreciate you sharing the guidance from your BGO. My S leaves his BGO messages, liike that he was offered CVW, but never hears back.

WP, appreciate the positive messages also. The waiting is long and agonizing. Some days I think he will get in, others I think maybe not. We are glad to know the CVW invitation, which came right after his application was complete, is a positive sign. Your description was most appreciated.

MOC's office told me that they typically get 4-6 applications for noms to USNA. So, he said, they don't do interviews. Unless they would receive more than 10. This was Reps office. We have already received notification that one Senator received 354 apps for all SA's combined. Is this good news from Rep's office? I didn't want to be asking too many questions; perhaps I should have asked if they rank the nominations?? My original question that prompted me to call was if the Rep had "space available" at USNA, which they assured me that he did.

We continue to press on with our app for our backup plan, Texas A&M University and their Corps of Cadets. Which I know we need to do, regardless of outcome at USNA.

zaner ...I'd say that's very good news from your MOC/HR. Means you've a nomination when your son is deemed 3 Qed and even before, barring disaster. I'd be happy hearing that news! :)

Work @ keeping your MOC, BGO, and Admissions Officer informed of any, all good news. Batch it, rather than dribbling it out each week or 3. But now is prime time, and while your MO to not be perceived as the proverbial pain is noteworthy ...all of these have plenty to keep them busy, especially now...don't allow good news to go unheard, while you're walking on egg-shells or "assuming" that somehow they heard yours was named class president or MVP of the state science fair. Take nothing for granted or assumption.

And consider it a great blessing that you're in this position to be worrying about a wonderful child's possibilities of an appointment to one of the greatest educational opportunities in the world. So many would love to have your worry. And count it simply as part of the dues a good parent pays. ;)

Last thought for now ...allow your candidate to do the leg work. Shows intitiative and they get some of those ah-huh moments when they get the idea that mom n dad just MAY know how to help after all. :p Again, congrats on the progress so far. Be happy looking back and realizing how far you all have come. And put on your shades in anticipation of the bright lights up ahead.

P.S. Have you considered USCGA as a potential backup plan? No nom necessary.

Mmm, I just received a LoA. Less than two weeks after submitting my application! Congratulations to everyone else who's getting the same letter.

larry2013: (re post 43): Even though your son will be "just following around" a Plebe, be sure he takes workout clothing, swim trunks, and running shoes. Due to the Navy-ND there may not be Saturday Morning Training this weekend, but on most weekends they will have training. WRT visiting Hubbard Hall (crew), I'm not sure what NCAA rules are about visiting, but your son should call or email the coach to see if it's OK. If so, he can ask his Plebe to take him over, or to see if another Mid would go over with him. If nothing else, PM me. My daughter is on women's crew.

Can a person get a LOA with a medical Disqualification and is going to be qualified in Jan 09?
Also how are these ACT scores for all that got there LOA and took the ACTs:

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question correctly but, are you assuming you'll be medically qualified thru remedial? I can't answer whether or not USNA issues LOA to a candidate with medical DQ but my S received his LOA a couple of weeks after completing his file in October with medical Q.

update, yours are decent scores, notably in math where all need strength. The Reading and Science are not counted. These will not eliminate you from consideration. Congrats and good luck. Enjoy, you might want yours to give it another try. ;) Parental bragging is allowed here. You've used up one of your chits. :p

You may if you can chuck a football 65 on a line, or approach a 4 min mile, or maintain a particular preferred status ...but not on the principal basis of these.

2012mom? (re post 49) thanks for info - did try to send PM-Larry did send new message to coach he had spoken with in summer. CVW is tomorrow so getting ready. Thanks again

hey all! i recieved my offer of appointment to usna class of 2013 about a month ago. congrats to all who have recieved the same. my BGO said that I was the first one in my state to finish the application process and all so I was and still am pretty excited. best of luck to the rest of you!
