I was accepted to Loomis Chaffee and although I'd love to attend, it just doesn't seem practical because I play Premier soccer. I am not sure how I would continue playing premier soccer if I attended Loomis.
To to any current students or newly admitted students, do you face this issue as well? Or do you know any students who do?
Would it be possible for me to continue playing club soccer?

Also, any other information at life at Loomis would be great in order to help me make my decision.

i was recruited for soccer, so i know a lot about their high level of soccer, in fact, that’s what intrigued me so much about the school.
I am currently on the ODP State and Region 1 team, and it’s not that I need better than D1, it’s just I want to keep myself at top level year round so I can play college soccer. Colleges usually recruit more from the premier/odp/region 1/national level teams rather than high school teams.

If you are a girl, I know that Loomis just acquired a new head girls soccer coach who coached Division I soccer (at Uconn I believe…? Don’t quote me on that!) and played played professionally herself. I don’t know if it gets better than that…

my sister goes to loomis. She says the soccer team is great, and very well supported. She also says that if you are really passionate about a particular sport, then they are willing to let you play year around (she figure skates, and attends the local club). So if you really like soccer, during your off season they may be willing to let you play in a local team, or you could practice over the weekend on the fields with other friends etc, or with the coach. Hope this helps

@ccprep: My D has a Loomis acceptance and loves fencing, something few schools still offer. Do you (or anyone else) know if/how they could accommodate that interest?

i am also a fencer! i fence eppe:) I definately think that loomis would be willing to accommodate your daughter. I do not think loomis has a fencing program now (will check with sister), but she could fence at a local club/team if one is close by (and do it as an independent study), or she could get a staff/teacher sponsor to help her start a club within the school.

I got accepted into loomis but w/o any FA. my family could probably squeeze out the money to pay for HS but we wont have much left for college or my siblings. our town’s public high school is really good, so im wondering if loomis is worth it or if i should just go to public HS

I really don’t think there is a correct answer for your question. Any boarding school will be what you make out of it. It is your decision, and I wish you and your families the best of luck.

hi guys! I’m a current student at LC and I thought I would do my best to be of help.

@Rubricon - I know that there is a club fencing program (in the winter I believe, I don’t know about other terms) but if you are interested in tournaments etc. I think you would have to go to the local club, which I think is possible.

@danser15/swissbrit - I can’t tell you whether or not loomis would be the right choice for you, but it’s a great place with great people, so I suggest coming to revist so you can check it out before you make your choice.

Feel free to ask me any questions if you want :)

do you know of any boarders who play club soccer? if so, are they part of a carpool that gets picked up and dropped off by other teammates parents?

also, what is Loomis like as a girl boarder? everything you can tell me is everything i want to know!

@ccutler - I don’t know of anyone personally for soccer, but I know that there are kids who go to tournaments (for hockey, lax, etc.) on the weekends during the offseason. I think their parents have to take them, but I’m sure if you were on a team or something other parents could help.

1) what’s a typical day like?
2) what are weekends like?
3) dating scene?
4) parties? alcohol? drug scene?
5) do parents who live close by take their kids home each weekend?
6) fav thing about dorm life? worst thing about dorm life?
7) the pros/cons of the school?
