Low Asian acceptance rate?

I have heard some rumor about that Haverford has a low Asian acceptance rate, especially to Chinese. I have heard that the admission office is really picky on Chinese students. I wonder if this is true. I am currently a junior and I am very interested in Haverford. I am Chinese but I have been studying in the States for two years. So this rumor really makes me worried. I know that on the website it says 10.2% of the class of 2017 are international and 15% have Asian background, but I still would like to hear from people at Haverford or people who applied in the past years. Thank you!

I think what you said about Asians/Chinese applies to (almost) every college.

@absentions that’s true, but what I am trying to say is that I heard HC had a even lower Asian/Chinese acceptance rate compared to other colleges ( i should have clarified this earlier)

Oh, I’m not sure about that then. But I would imagine no. 15% Asians isn’t uncommon I don’t think.

haha I read somewhere being asian decreases ur chances at any school by 30% (I dont know if it is true or not, but you get the point) If youre asian your application needs to be that much better
As for HC it just has a higher Asian applicant population which decreases the asian acceptance rate cuz they can only accept so many asians due to cultural diversity

Last year, a chinese boy from my high school applied to Haverford early decision and was accepted. National merit commended. Played tennis, ran track, played violin, and probably participated in other activities. He never struck me as particularly brilliant. Try ED if you’re worried!
