Low SAT, High ACT

I have a pretty high ACT score and a moderate/low SAT score.

For the UCs, do they look at your highest score or do they look at all of your scores overall, in which case I guess I should retake the SAT.

You don’t need to send your SAT score.

Your university will see all scores sent through Collegeboard. The Collegeboard runs the SAT’s and AP’s. The ACT is separate, and you can pick and choose which scores to send. However, I wouldn’t worry too much about these details. Whatever you do, the admissions people will likely only look at your highest score.

I agree with ACT wizard, but also… if you have a low sat don’t worry about retaking it. Just submit your high ACT score. most schools take both.

^ ALL schools will take either the ACT or SAT.

like everyone else said just send your ACT. ACT is generally meant for more mathy people.

I have heard that students who score lower on the SAT can sometimes have a better experience on the ACT. That’s what I’m hoping, so wish me luck, taking the ACT with writing in 2 weeks.

I generally do worse on the SATs and PSATs than I do on the ACTs. Usually, the English and reading sections bog my score down, and I think the SATs weight these sections more than the ACTs do. So I agree with FlkLee, the ACTs are better for mathy people like me.

Schools will use whichever score is highest. In your case, the ACT will be used. Just be sure to send it! :)

You don’t need to send your SAT, just send your highest score (ACT) they treat them the same!
