Hey guys! Lately, I've been looking into UIUC. I have come to really like the school, but there's one problem: my scores. I have a 3.27 GPA and a 25 on my ACT. I'll be taking it for the last time in October, hoping to at least get a 27. I know a lot of the times schools will accept students with lower scores if they are in-state, is this true? Also would putting that I'm interested in majoring in business hurt me on my application? Thanks for any and all help!

Also want to add, my GPA dropped a lot due to 3 C’s and a B I received during my Junior year. On my application I explained that having to move households at the time was a bit hard for me, and I had trouble maintaing my grades. I volunteer at my local preschool every summer, and had a part-time job my Sophomore and Junior year, if this info helps.

While getting into UIUC is not impossible with those stats, you would need to consider it a reach. I would apply, but leave yourself other options.

@balthezar thank you! I will be applying. Hate to ask so many questions, but do you if everyone is going to find out on February 13th if they’ve been accepted or not? Or will you find out sooner and that’s just the latest. They called it their “official notification date” on their site, so…

No, that will be when all decisions are released. They don’t do rolling admissions. As the deadline approaches, while they are loading decisions, certain parts of your app status page will change and/or disappear as they consider you for your first, or alternate choices.
