Well they admitted 121 Econ majors last year, and 112 this year. Chances are pretty slim that he “sniped” your spot. But you know what else that’s pretty unlikely? If all the other admits didn’t BS parts of their apps.

yeah, i know tons of people who only got into the prestigious schools they’re at right now by entirely cheating their way through high school. sadly enough, idk if it will ever come back to bite them because cheaters usually have really slick personalities that get them out of trouble. the rest of us are just a bunch of chickens (or at least, i am -__-).
but ratting out your friend won’t get you in… so if it’ll honestly make you feel better to get him kicked out/lose your friendship, then go ahead and do it. however, you should def. call and ask why you didn’t get in and if they give you a vague answer about econ being a competitive major, ask “so if hypothetically speaking, i had an internship or some more ECs, would it have helped…?”

and whoa i didnt know that about econ… if i did i would never have applied as an econ major. :(

Back in HS, I helped a friend out with her entire application. I motivated her to volunteer, do this and that. I told her what classes to take. I came to America before her so I just wanted to help.
I got rejected by UCB and she got in. She thanks me for helping her. The irony, I helped my friend got in but couldn’t do that myself ?
Oh talking about mad at yourself !
But you know what…that’s just life !

what can i say OP?

i have no morals to live by…your friend did what he did and who are we to judge?

as Machiavelli would say…“Might makes right”, “Do or be done to”, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world”

i felt this way about my friend too. i didn’t get into ucb and he did. but that’s because of my low gpa. however, i was honest about my grades. we are different majors.

my friend took classes at one cc and a class at another and didn’t report them because they were C, Ds and Fs. nice 3.8 gpa at the main cc. i just feel bad that it’s unfair for those who were honest.

cheaters are cheaters. in the end, it will catch up to them. let them learn their own lesson. telling on him will only make him hate you… there are many others who could’ve taken your spot.

Some UCs may ask for proof of extracurricular activity if it sounds too outlandish, and if the applicant fails to provide his or her proof, he or she will automatically be denied admission to ALL UCs. happened to a person i know, even his online letters of acceptance were revoked

Ugh, I have a friend who had a friend in a non-profit lie for her and say she completed 250+ hours of community service so she could get the presidential award. Makes me a little bitter in the fact that I actually did the work to get it and all she had to do was batt her eyes. Oh well, c’est la vie.

No! No c’est a la vie or whatever.

You should get her back, balance, take justice in your own hands!

Cheaters DO get caught, they probably just don’t parade that fact to everyone.
If you want to play vigilante or whatever, go right ahead. But I’ve gone down that path b4 and all I had accomplished at the end was feeling like a petty little prick.
