Is it possible to major in business at Farmer and to minor or double major in another discipline from the College of Arts and Sciences such as history or political science?
Is it possible in the sense of is it allowed, or in the sense of can a student complete a business degree and have enough time to earn enough credits for a second major? Also, will you have AP credits or similar earned credits?
My son should qualify for 5 or 6 AP course credits. Yes, he is interested to know if this was allowed and if it would be feasible based upon time available and credits needed.
During our campus tour at Northwestern, they touted the ability to double major since the quarter system allows you to take more courses. My son thought this was a great idea and is interested in this to optimize his undergrad experience.
lefty,
It is absolutely possible to do that. He won’t have any trouble getting it done in four years, especially with all of the AP credits he is starting with. Also, many Miami students do one or more study abroad programs during the Summer or during J-term. That adds additional credit hours. If your son happens to get into the Honors program it becomes easier still as many of the Miami Core requirements are waived, leaving more time to pursue a double major.
I just looked up J-term since I am unfamiliar with it – for anyone else that doesn’t know, it is also called “winter term” at MiamiU. It is a time period between the end of Fall Term and the start of Spring Term. As @Inquisitive says above, there are many, many program choices during winter term.
