okay, im applying to UC's and i know subject tests arent required this year
problem:
i got 710 on chem last year and 770 on math 2 this year, while it may not seem good to you, these IMO are excellent scores. since my sat is considerably lower 1960, I feel like I am at a disadvantage because the subject test scores arent required. do schools like UCSD and UCLA even take them into consideration?

Yes, they are taken into account.

how important are they though. like lests say on a scale of 1-10 Sat 1 is a 10. what would subject tests be

You are correct, UCs don’t require SAT IIs, but that’s because this is the first year UC does not require them. Before, applicants had to take 2 SAT Subject Tests. So yes, your SAT II scores will give you a viable advantage over other applicants. And don’t worry, I have 1960 in SAT too, but for SAT IIs I have 800 in Math II and 730 in World History.
