March SAT - So Heartbroken

I'm a sophomore who took the March SAT a couple weeks ago.
I took a full prep course over the summer and during the school year with the full intention of getting over 2300.
I worked my ass off, and I look around and my friends are doing nothing.
I was so confidant and sure that I got at 800 on CR and did fine on everything else.

When I saw my score (2260), I felt my stomach drop. I was so heartbroken and disappointed and angry at myself. What makes things worse, my friends all got 2300+.

I don't know what to do right now because I expected so much more. I don't want to do SAT prep again, and what if I still won't be able to get 2300+ next year?

I don't know how to deal with this. I need some advice. Please. Help me.

You do better than 99% of the nation, and then you are heartbroken over a 2260…smh.

Seriously, what college wouldn’t want someone with a 2260? I know people with similar scores to you that are at MIT, UPenn, etc.

Even Harvard and Yale take 2260s into serious consideration.

Get over yourself. You got an amazing score. So what if all of your friends got over 2300? The problem is that you’re comparing yourself to your friends and not to the field. If you get rejected from any college it WONT be because of your SAT scores.

Take a breather and never worry about the SAT I again. Seriously. No more prep courses or anything like that.

^ I totally agree. Do not be freaking out over this. Also, your first statement… You are a sophomore! Do not worry that you did not break 2300 sophomore year. I am pretty sure most top scores are from Junior spring, so you have a year to reach your peak. Do not frett!

Lol go away OP

Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using CC

This is one of the most pretentious posts that I’ve ever seen in my life. Remember that kid in elementary school that always used to say that their drawing was “so bad”, yet it was the best in the class? You’re being that person.

A 2260 as a sophomore and you’re complaining? I know people that would be elated to get an 1800 as a junior! Oh, I’m sorry… You didn’t get a full scholarship to Harvard? Boo-hoo.

What astounds me the most about posts like these is that the writer is smart enough to make a 2260 on the test (as a Sophomore) but lacks the common sense to just be gracious and humble about his or her score. I really wish that the SAT was graded on common sense; I’d beat all of you 2250-2400 brainiacs.

Seriously though, if you expect sympathy for such a “low” score, you probably aren’t going to get it here. Seriously, you can figure out how to get a vast majority of the problems right but you can’t figure out that you won’t get sympathy here? I want to make a petition for a new test. CSAT: Common Sense Aptitude Test - that way you can ACTUALLY be disappointed about your scores.

That’s not pretentious. Please check the definition. He isn’t flaunting his 2260, assuming that he is genuinely disappointed by it, which seems so. He also doesn’t even mention anything about Harvard, soooo… But you on the other hand, sound pretty condescending to me, "I’d beat all of you 2250-2400 brainiacs. " "I want to make a petition for a new test. CSAT: Common Sense Aptitude Test - that way you can ACTUALLY be disappointed about your scores. ". Although, I do have to agree that it is stupid to expect sympathy from people.

lol 10char.

OP, you’re a sophomore. There will be plenty of times to prove yourself and get a 2300. I got a 2200 in October and was pretty bummed about it, but I came back strong this month and got a 2330. Anything is possible. And to the posters above, no need to skewer the OP, a kid can be disappointed in him/herself if he or she didn’t score as high as anticipated. Nothing pretentious about that.

Community College is probably still an option. Have you talked over your options with your counselor? I know a lot of doors are shut, but it’ll work out.

My question is, how does your “stomach drop” when you’re a sophomore and you scored above 2200?

This morning I woke up and saw my 2040. I have been prepping for months.

My stomach dropped too, but out of damn excitement… and I’m a junior.

This is the most pretentious post I’ve ever seen… you have a whole year to deal with all this stuff, what do you even need help in? smh… just go take practice tests for another year son…

Really…really? Come on, you got a score that -everyone- in my school would kill you for. Not to mention you still have all of your junior year and the fall of your senior year to retest to bring up your “horrible” score.

Your stomach dropped over a 2260? Get a grip on life.

I guarantee if you take the test 1 year from now, you will score 2300+. So relax.

And this thread is why CC gets such a bad rep.

But honestly – try, try again. Just see where you did worse and work to improve. At least you know now. No one is perfect.

that is a really really great score!!

This is so pretentious… the importance of getting a 2300+ in sophomore year is about as important as going to Harvard when you are 15… there is no need to be so damn apprehensive! And then you get such a “lowly” 2260. Who cares! You have an entire year to get a 2400. If you studied for months, then just study your mistakes and not make them again next time. And which school are you going to? An Ivy League Prep School? Any kid in public school would be flaunting that score!

…WHAT??A 2260??HOW DID YOU NOT GET A 2300??

Your life is over. Because of this 2260, your future is ruined. Youll be lucky if McDonald’s hires you to flip their burgers

And if you complain about a 2260, I doubt you have any friends

i dont even noe what to say about this post

Heartbroken? Are you serious? Most students don’t even get to that score until Junior year. Relax, you can take it again. Sometimes, it’s just luck.

stop crying you people are so annoying
