I’d treat it seriously. There is a very good chance that your child is going to be accepted and they are working up the package. (But don’t pop the Champagne yet… they could just be getting all ready in advance of decison day, too.)

Just accepted to CCM for double bass performance

D just got her acceptance from Florida State University School of Music - BM/ Vocal Performance!

Thanks for putting together this list…

My son has been accepted to the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Music as a Sinquefield Scholar in Composition which carries a 4 year full tuition scholarship. Missouri is developing a very strong new music composition program. A new music ensemble made up of graduates students is part of the program as well as a well regarded summer festival. The program is lead by two Eastman Ph.Ds.

Congratulations to Compdad! That’s fantastic news. I think your son is going to have a hard time choosing now. But do remember he can always apply to the summer program, no matter where he’s an undergrad…

Compdad, Wow! That is wonderful news. Congratulations to your son. Can’t wait to hear where he ends up.

Thanks SM and Cellocompmom. Now he waits for NEC.

Son accepted at the following schools of music: Florida State, University of Florida, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Stetson, University of South Carolina. One scholarship offer in-hand from UF, awaiting scholarship offers from the big two for him: FSU and South Carolina (and yes we are FL residents)

StoneMagic, for some reason I’m pulling for SC. Don’t know why. Congrats and good luck!

@Compdad, LOL…and thanks. Though it’s close, he has a first choice, but I’m not gonna jynx it until we have any/all offers all in-hand! It’s just a relief to have the acceptances and the know the dang kid can actually play, but who invented this system? Apply as a regular student, wait…get accepted. Apply for school of music and audition date, wait some more. Audition, then wait some more to hear back. Get accepted to music school…then wait again for scholarships. Reminds me of a Tom Petty song.

P.S. - I see the South Carolina Wind Ensemble is touring China…now THAT would be awesome!

Congratulations to KnittingGene and son, bassgirl15, badblonde and daughter, Compdad and son, and StoneMagic and son.

Compdad, can you tell me whether or not your son qualifies for in-state rates at U Missouri so that I know how much to put down for the amount of the scholarship? For now I am going to play the odds and guess that you live in a different state.

StoneMagic, can you tell me what major and what instrument or voice is involved here? (Edit: I see from another of your posts that it is bass trombone. I will assume that instrument and a BM in Performance at each school listed. Please let me know if that is not correct.)

I knew that question was going to come from you BassDad. Yes, we are not from Missouri so the scholarship is for out of state rates of $22,200 for next year with all increases met for the following years.

@BassDad - thanks and it is indeed Bass Trombone. He is a Florida resident, offered a music scholarship to UF thus far with others coming shortly (or so they said). With Bright Futures (in-state lottery money), his tuition is essentially zero if he remains in FL. Strong interest remains for FSU and South Carolina - S. Carolina is OOS for us but drops him to near in-state rates plus the scholarship monies. Tough decision coming up, I will update as we hear back.

StoneMagic, did yours come in mail Monday? I called, ( status changed 2/28, so wanted to find out when actually mailed since last week was spring break). Also, if mail, was it letter or large envelope? Thanks

D accepted University of Delaware, BM Music Ed, Clarinet! All decisions are in. So proud of her - accepted everywhere she auditioned.

Decision…Accepting University of Delaware! Thanks BassDad.

Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to all those accepted!

CruiseQueen, Congrats on the clean sweep and the Delaware decision!

Congrats everyone so far! It is so exciting to see people go from the “what the heck is this music major thing?” to making through applications, pre-screens auditions and acceptances! Parents: special kudos–I’ve been there, and it was juggling MADNESS!!!

Congratulations on all the acceptances. Just wondering if any string performance majors have heard from UT/Austin yet. The last auditions were February 18.

Accepted at Towson University for BM Education, voice emphasis.
