In reference to the previous post about Oberlin early review, it is obviously not true and a misunderstanding of information received last year. Too bad for us. Hopefully it won’t affect the outcome by April and psychologically it might even be good since there are so many other great schools out there (even though Obie wannabees definately would not agree with that.) Congratulations to the posts with early acceptance to their comp program. You are truly very fortunate.

S just accepted to Berklee BM Performance (Jazz Piano) for fall 2012.

Also accepted to Fordham University Lincoln Center, BA Music

twin S and D accepted to Berklee S BM guitar performance, D BM bass performance. Woo hoo! Now we wait for the scholarships, hopefully!

Congrats Musictwins! times 2!!

Congrats to your S too!!! I am surprised they were notified so early but it is a big boost! Congrats on Fordham too!

Musictwins, just think of the great music that has passed through your halls over the years. Keep thinking that as the numbers keep moving to the left. As to early review at Oberlin, early review is not early decision. The number of applicants for each spot is sobering (as it is at all of the top schools) whenever the interview.

squiggles and musictwins, when my D applied to Berklee, she heard about her acceptance just after midnight (online) and then her scholarship about 5pm the same day. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for all of you.

Congratulations to squiggles1118 and son, and to musictwins, daughter and son.

Musictwins, can you specify for each of those twins whether their primary instrument is electric or acoustic?

As before, until we get further into admissions season when the acceptances are being reported at a much faster rate, we will publish these reports after every 10 acceptance reports or one week, whichever takes longer.

Hello! D accepted to DePauw SOM. VP.

Congratulations once again to Rosie26 and daughter.

D accepted at Hartt for Oboe music performance + music education dual degree.

Congratulations to Parkmama and daughter. As I understand Hartt’s program, they offer a double major program with just one BM degree issued covering both performance and music ed. A dual degree program would generally result in a BM in one area plus a BA or BS in a second, non-musical field. Please let me know if your daughter will indeed receive two separate degrees because I cannot find any information about such a program on the Hartt website.

BassDad–Thank you for the congrats and also for keeping these stats for all of us. I think your understanding is correct. I just reread her acceptance letter and it states “you have been accepted to the program leading to the Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Oboe Performance and Music Education/Instumental Emphasis”

I’m new to this and not a musician, so it was my error in thinking it was a dual degree.

D is extremely happy as Hartt is one of her top choices.

BassDad misses nothing. Congrats on Hartt Parkmama.

Daughter accepted to U Mass Amherst for BM Music Performance/Flute with a Chancellor Talent Award of $3000/year.

Congratulations to jolyons and daughter.
