Accepted to BoCo for BM in composition. Thanks for the heads up, crazymusicmom!

Accepted to Boston Conservatory for BM in Double Bass Performance!

Congratulations to AltoSxMom and son, to musician34 and to bassgirl15.

AltoSxMom, I am going to go way out on a limb and guess that the vowel intended between the S and the x is an a in this case, and furthermore that that is your son’s instrument. Please let me know if I am wrong.

musician34, do you use an instrument or sing when you compose? I like to include a primary instrument or voice whenever possible.

Oh My! I didn’t think anything other than sax when I made up my username. OOOPS!

I am happy to report that my son just got accepted into the Music program at UCLA as a performance major on his Alto Saxophone. I have a very happy son right now. 3 music school acceptances in one day UOP, University of Arizona, and now UCLA.

Just accepted to Northwestern University for Voice Performance and Music Education! :)

S has been accepted to Lawrence. We know this because he received the robo-email saying “Welcome to Lawrence, check out the Youtube channel”. We still haven’t received his letter, although we have been told it’s on the way. And we have instructions to let them know if we still haven’t received the letter by Monday. Our post office is a huge fail. :P

As soon as the letter actually gets here, I will update as to what exactly S has been accepted to and any scholarship amounts.

Any double bassists audition at Oberlin, MSM, or Mannes? Have you heard anything?

Kay

Oberlin sent their letters out this afternoon.

Here’s another one for Boston Conservatory- D was accepted for BM Flute Performance, with a $15,000 scholarship!

Got rejected from Rice and UCLA. I guess i’m going to SFCM. I’m not complaining…as long as I get some scholarship!
Still waiting to hear from NEC and CIM. I think my SAT scores did me in. I only got a 1500… T___T

S applied for BM for violin performance. He was rejected from Curtis and Colburn but was accepted to Indiana with no scholarship. He found out today he got into the studio of his choice at Rice. He was offered $36,660 from the university and the music school. S is very excited but is waiting to hear from Juilliard and NEC. He heard from the teacher of his choice in NEC that he is in but would be more assured once he gets an official offer with the financial package.

Octaves, can I ask which teacher at NEC?

The themes for this evening appear to be sax and violins.

Congratulations to friday4realg, who informs me via PM of an acceptance to Eastman Conservatory for a BM in Composition, primary instrument piano, with a scholarship in the amount of $18,000.

Congratulations also to AltoSxMom and son, soprano93, trumpetguysmom and son, Mater and daughter, and Octaves and son.

trumpetguysmom, I am going to hold off adding your entry to the spreadsheet until you have provided the rest of the information. I have no doubt that he is in, but there are several possibilities at Lawrence so I am going to wait until you tell me more.

soprano93, I am guessing that the Performance/Music Education combination is a double major resulting in a BM. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Lifeofsolitude, hang in there. I will wait until you hear from all of your schools before marking San Francisco as your decision. NEC and CIM will care far less about your SAT scores than places like Rice and UCLA.

Son accepted today to UCLA – double major composition and piano!

Congratulations to alohagail and son. I will assume that is for a BA unless told otherwise since it appears that UCLA grants that degree rather than the BM.

AltoSxMom, I made the same assumption about your son’s degree, by the way.

Congratulations to turnerhome5 and son. An acceptance to the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University for a BM in violin performance had been previously reported. I have just received a PM saying that the son has been awarded the McDuffie Presidential Scholarship in the amount of $32,484 and will attend that school.

Now I’m going to have Cole Porter’s “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” running through my head.

D Accepted to Boston Conservatory with $12,000 for Vocal Performance.

Also accepted to Georgia Stat University, Vocal Performance, no money but we do have the hope scholarship in Georgia. This is her fall back school.

Update on where we are at.
S acceptances now include: Boston Conservatory and Boston University. Both schools awarded strong financial packages. Only two more to go-NEC and Juilliard!

D got accepted into BU with $13,000.

D2 got in to Northwestern University dual degree- BM in vocal performance and BA in French or Biology. D2 also got in the Rice University- BA (she did not get to audition for Shepherd)
