Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2012

Facebook page Oberlin Hopefuls says letters mailed Monday, that conservatory students that are international notified by email, domestic by mail…hmmmm…

Congratulations to sonwhosings and son, jamienbrandel, and violagirl.

Just received word of a $5000/year music merit scholarship from UMich…but that’s probably not enough… :(

Oberlin Conservatory is sending out emails to parents and students–ours arrived yesterday and states that the formal letter of acceptance was also mailed on March 27. Patience as I don’t believe it was a mass e-mail.

Have any composition students heard from Oberlin yet?

cellocompmom,

friday4realg and Compdad’s son have reported acceptances to Oberlin for Composition.

But those were in December after early review. I don’t know about RD for composition.

Re the Oberlin composition question, S received an e-mail yesterday just after midnight. The letter has not arrived yet though.

Thanks mrky. I guess I need to be patient and not give up all hope yet.

Was awarded presidential scholarship at sfcm 10k per yr

D was accepted to Oberlin College but just received an email notifying her that she was given a place on the waitlist for the Conservatory for BM Viola. She has already declined the spot, she is very excited about her current choices, and still waiting for a few more. In the end, the urban schools are more appealing to her. Hope her opt-out helps someone else here!

Lifeofsolitude, so happy to hear you got that scholarship! Congratulations to everyone on all their good news. Its been really helpful to have this community.

@cellocompmom, you should have your S or D just call the admissions office. My S had auditioned in 2 different disciplines, and the e-mail he received was vague as to which or both, so he called admissions and they told him over the phone. Good luck!!

Congratulations to Lifeofsolitude.

Accepted to msm for viola bm! I was assigned Karen Dreyfus. Does anyone have any information about her?

Some scholarship info to add: $12,000 per year from Vanderbilt; and $12,000 a year from Oberlin for 5 years of the dual degree ($6000 academic and $6000 music).

Congratulations to lovetheviola and to showgirlsmama and daughter.

lovetheviola, I assume by msm you mean Manhattan School of Music. I have seen a couple of people get confused by that acronym, thinking it means Mannes School of Music (which is really Mannes College The New School for Music), so I am just checking.

Boston Conservatory, BM Composition, Guitar, ACCEPTED
Oberlin Conseratory, BM Composition Guitar, rejected

I was accepted to the Ithaca School of Music for a BM in voice performance and Lawrence Univeristy for the BM/BA program. At Lawrence I got an $18,000 talent scholarship, another $2000 for being a good community member, and another $2000 for National Merit.

Congratulations to lake4 (and son I think), and musiclvr.

lake4, since all the other acceptances were reported for your son, I am going to assume this one is for him as well. Let me know if we have a father/son or mother/son act going here.

musiclvr, I presume that your BM at Lawrence would be in vocal performance as well. What about the BA there? Have you decided on a field?

Congrats to everyone!!!
