4 year with Mr. Hans Jensen!

Congratulations Meekchun - I see you say four years - does that mean he did not apply to the double degree program at Northwestern with Journalism or Media Studies? I know you were posting about that possibility earlier.

Congratulations to meekchun and son. (At least I am assuming this is for meekchun’s son, rather than meekchun.) I am also assuming that it is for a BM in performance. Please let me know if any of those assumptions are wrong.

Thanks, SpiritManager and BassSon!
We considered double major for a long time but finally decided to focus music, BM with minor of Music Critics at Journalism. Also, he was selected as a YoungArts finalist and will go to Miami soon!
We think it is a right choice because Mr. Jensen is not only wonderful teacher but also great mentor!

meekchun, congrats! Sounds like a fantastic program. Did you know that Laurie Niles, the editor and owner of violinist.com, studied journalism and violin performance at Northwestern? You might want to contact her (she is very nice, even to other members of the strings family!)

To all, when you post acceptances, it would help me if you would include the following information:

1) The school that accepted you (name, location if the school has more than one campus, and department if it is possible to study music in more than one academic unit within the school).

2) The degree program for which you have been accepted (BM, BA, BME, BFA, MM, DMA, PhD, etc…)

3) The music-related major for which you have been accepted (Performance, Music Education, Music, Music Technology, Music Business, Recording Arts, Commercial Music, Music Therapy, and so on…)

4) If you are looking at a double (or more) degree program, the additional major(s) that you intend to pursue and, if different from the first major, the school and degree information for each additional major.

5) Your primary instrument (voice counts).

That all sounds kind of complicated, but it is usually pretty simple. Here are a few examples of the kind of post that makes the job of compiling these easier for mrky and me.

ToneDeaf’s S accepted to the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople for a BM in Performance on tromba marina.

SottoVoce accpeted to Confidentialia College for a BM in Composition (major instrument voice) and a BS in Rocket Science.

EarPlug’s D accepted to Lower Central Midwestern Conservatory for a BME in Music Education (major instrument rauschpfeife) and to their joint program with Snootier College for a BA in Zen Studies.

If you care to include the following, we will also include it in the database. If you prefer not to share this information, that is also fine.

1) The name of the principal applied music teacher (i.e. the one who will be handling the vocal or instrumental lessons on the student’s primary instrument).

2) The amount of any merit scholarships (based on academic merit or musical talent) that are being offered. I prefer not to include need based aid in the numbers when it can be separated out. If you are not willing to have this information associated with your or your child’s name, I can also include amounts anonymously in only the totals if you are willing to go that far.
