Hi. I’m trying to figure out my classes ASAP. If I plan to get into university of Michigan,
Would these science and math classes be too light? (High school). Aiming to be a surgeon
Math:
Algebra
Geometry
Algebra 2
Pre Calc
Calc AB
Science:
Honors biology
Honors chemistry
Psycology
AP biology
Anatomy
I’m debating whether to do AP physics as a 12th grader or not. Would it look good? Do I need to take it? Would these classes give me a good shot into UVM? You can most definitely give me any advice onclasses to take, it would be much appreciated.
Look up the course curriculum for Univ of Michigan for your intended major and see if any Physics courses are required. If so, then having taken a Physics class in HS will help. You do not have to take AP Physics if you want some exposure to the material. A Honors Physics would be fine if you are taking other rigorous courses at the same time.
So what is your intended major?
Neurosurgery. We have regular physics and then we have AP physics. Which should I take? How do I find the courses required? If I look that up, is it required for pre med school or med school? (Physics) I would take it senior year, so I’m not sure if they would see that I’m taking that class or not??
I can I can’t find the high school requirements. Is there any way you can send me a picture? Do you think AP physics is needed?
Neurosurgery is not an undergraduate major. Neuroscience, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics etc… are Undergraduate majors. And for the record, THERE IS NO PRE-MED COLLEGE.
You apply to a University/College for an Undergraduate college degree, then apply to Medical school. Pre-Med is not a major but a group of required courses. You can major in any subject of interest but you need to take these course to apply to Medical School.
There are no required for HS courses you can or have to take for Medical school. HS courses give the basic background to do well in the Undergrad courses required to apply to Medical school.
These are some of the required courses you take in college for Medical school:
• two semesters of biology with laboratory (up to four semesters at some schools)
• two semesters of inorganic chemistry with laboratory
• two semesters of organic chemistry with laboratory
• two semesters of math, at least one in calculus
• two semesters of physics with laboratory
• two semesters of English and/or writing
• Psychology, Statistics and Sociology may also be required
When you apply to Undergrad colleges, you will list all classes you have taken with grades along with any classes you will be taking Senior year, so admissions will see your course load. Physics is a Medical School requirement, so having taken a HS physics class will help you understand the material better once you get to any University and have to take College level physics to meet the Medical school course requirements. An Honors physics is fine.
What HS requirements? You need to check with counselor what courses are required for your HS and I am sure Physics is not a required class needed to graduate HS. Physics is a good class to have in your HS schedule if you plan to major in a science related field and it will make you a more competitive applicant but again not required to apply to an Undergraduate University.
Here is a link to the course requirements for the University of Michigan for their Biology Major. 2 semesters of Physics are required to be taken at the University as part of your Biology Undergraduate degree. What you take at Univ of Michigan will depend upon your major.

I’m aware that there is no pre Mrs because of this site, but everybody at my school calls it premed. Just the school, not the actual major. What I’m trying to convey is what high school requirements do I have to meet to get into UVM for undergrad/premed.
Hey i was just accepted and am going to study premed at Michigan and I took ap bio, ap chemistry, honors anatomy, ap psyc, honors physics. I didn’t take ap physics c because it was calculus based which most med schools don’t need and it seemed more geared towards engineering. I took honors classes in everything and ap stats and ap calc ab
You’re EXACTLY what I’m looking for. Is there any way I can have your email or something or is there a way to private message on this? Eeeee127
