May SAT 2011: Writing Section

Did anyone else think over should have been more than. My sat prep teacher said it should be changed. But I can see how over works.

whats the entire question?

@Sidthekid

I was debating for a while whether to put “over” because I had learned in English class that in formal writing it should be “more than”, but I eventually realized that part of the sentence said “have began”, which I though should have said “have begun”, so I ended up choosing that.

yup i had have begun im pretty sure.

Thank you so much for verifying that the cooking was the experimental. That section was insanely hard.

what were all the official essay prompts?

i agree with hartman, i picked had began right off the bat

For those wondering about the suitcase question, I was debating between “would” and “had.” I picked “would,” which I think was the original sentence

what was the question about the uncles voice.
I put uncle’s because uncle seemed improper

does anyone remember what they put for the question about corn oil making something smell like french fries? and another question about a girl squeezing between her friends to see pandas? i was so confused on both of them :(

Did you guys get rid of “annual” in one of the cherry tree one?
It was like, "the japanese gave cherry trees for the annual blah blah blah, which takes place every year, so I thought annual was redundant.

The suitcase one was “were to”

do we have to write from history in the essay? i didnt :(

I think the one with smelling corn was no error, and for the pandas you had to change “I” to “me”

yeah annual was redundant so you had to get rid of it

I put uncle’s and someone else’s! i hope its right :D

you don’t HAVE to write about history, you could have talked about books, movies and your personal life
most people used a history example on this essay because it was easy to talk about so don’t worry about it :)

It both frightens and amuses me to think of how close I was, on more than several occasions, to picking the wrong answer. Also I caught myself bubbling in the wrong section by accident twice. Both times, I discovered my errors just barely in time. For me, the gap between a 2300+ and a 1800 is literally just carelessness. SCARYYYY

anyone else have the essay about work and creativity?

“uncle’s and that of someone else with a german accent”

i want to know that too! that was hard. FOR THE SUITCASE QUESTION… i think i said “having had” or something like that/// D or E… is it true?
