Mechanical Engineering Colleges in Socal?

So I was looking at some mechanical engineering colleges within the SoCal region and all I get is Cal Poly. Are there any others that might be of worth? Thanks.

There are 43 accredited schools that offer ME in California. What are your stats to help you narrow them down.
BTW: There are 2 Cal polys: Pomona in SoCal and SLO in NorCal (central coast)

I would like to get into Cal Poly Pomona. But I am pretty flexible. I have about a 3.8 to 3.9 GPA and I am going to retake my SAT. Got a 1540 on the first one and hoping to get upwards of a 1700.

Your GPA is competitive but definitely need to bump up the SAT score. Since ME is impacted, you need a competitive SAT score to have a solid chance. Are you in the local service area? You will get priority.

What other schools do you have on your list?

Well, I do live locally. But the thing is I am not sold on an ME degree. I could try Civil as well. I would like to see myself at CSUF because it’s real close to my area, but I don’t know how their programs are. But I can go a bit more broad. Perhaps the LA area and get into CSULA or perhaps CSULB.

Actually I was going to recommend CSUF, CSULB and possibly SDSU. CSULA would be your safety school, but their ME program is not highly regarded. For CSULB and SDSU, it is a must to get that SAT score up.

Good Luck.

Thank you. But as for CSUF, would your recommendation be a CE or ME BA?

Actually, a friend recommended CE to my son when he was applying to CSUF. He chose CS instead, but I think either CE or ME would be an excellent choice. It really depends upon your strengths and likes.

Well thank you very much for your advice. CSUF is a top option for me
