does anyone have the stats for how many pre-meds on average get accepted into a med school?

I don't know the amount accepted, but according to this 2004 article about 324 UCD students per year apply to medical school.

so does Davis have a good acceptance rate to med schools? i've heard rumors about a "contract" that's an option if your GPA is above a certain pt?

Exactly, those are just rumors...no such contract exists at UCD. UCR on the other hand has one with Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

what about the "rumor" where UCD med school likes new students, rather than continuing undergrads? is this also not true?

I'm pretty sure the med school doesn't really care which college you're from, as long as you have the right academic/extracurricular qualifications. In my time at UCD I didn't hear of a bias in admission against UCD students. However they aren't given any priorities either.

do u know if UCD forces u to take upper division courses based on high AP scores?

Quite the opposite. They force you to take lower div's even if you have AP credit (the one exception I can think off the top of my head is you can skip Math 16/17/21A with a 5 in Calc AB or Math 16/17/21B with a 5 in Calc BC.)

really? even if i get 5's on all 3 AP sciences and send them in to adcoms, i can still take the intro courses?

Yes.

10char

r u completely positive? b/c some other ppl on this forum have said that mostly all UCs make u transfer up if u get high AP scores
not questioning u at all btw, just want to make sure

To quote UCD admissions:

A student is never forced to take courses. They are encouraged to take courses to meet graduation requirements.

And like I said before, most of the time you have to take the intro series before moving to upper division. What classes do you have in mind exactly (ie what AP credits do you have?)

i'm gonna take the Bio test end of this yr (i'll take some senior yr maybe)
if i choose to not send some of my scores, does that mean all scores aren't sent?

^ (10 chars)

I think there's an option to not send a certain AP test score from collegeboard, but you have to pay I forget how much per test/per school you don't want to send. It's a complete rip-off. Honestly, it won't affect you if you didn't pass a couple tests. It'll only help if you passed one, but it won't count against you if you didn't pass one.

well i'm not doing this for bad scores, just maybe so i can have the option of taking the intro courses if needed

also, does it look bad for UCD admissions if i skip out on some AP tests?

^ (10 chars)

^ (10 chars)

It will have no effect on your admissions if you don't take some AP tests. UC Davis uses the scores only for the purpose of credit and placement. Remember if you don't take the test you don't get any college credit for them. The tests aren't even taken until after you will have already been admitted, relax.

what about junior yr AP tests?

like i'm doing pretty well grade-wise in AP language, but i don't want to go to a higher-level class in college b/c honestly i would probably fail it
so maybe i won't take the AP test this yr
