Mexican (Hispanic) vs. Caucasion

I don't exactly agree that colleges sometimes look at ethnicity to determine acceptance or not, but it is a fact ..... So, my question is, should my daughter put that she is "Hispanic" (Mexican) on her app. She is 1/4 Mexican (grandfather 100%), 3/4 white caucasion. I'm sure whomever looks at her app. would figure it out anyway because of her last name (very Hispanic/Mexican).

Does it really help???

A friend of mine who got into ivies and other top universities put down "mixed race" or something like that, but his last name was very Hispanic. I don't know how much of a factor that was though, since he was an amazing student anyway.

My daughter is a somewhat "Above-Average" student, so she won't be trying for any of the big name colleges or ivies .... just universities like Purdue and Miami (in Ohio), and colleges such as that. So, do you think being URM helps when applying to these types of colleges???

Putting "mixed race" is a good idea!!!!! Thanks!!!
