Mid Year Report

Hey guys, do we have to send our midyear report grades if Bucknell does not request them from the school ? because I know on the common app theres a section for the mid-year report, but do we send them if Bucknell hasn’t requested them yet ?

And also, how much is the mid year report weighted...I'm taking 5 AP courses this year and I'm having trouble in Calculus because I'm really not gifted in math but I decided to take the course anyway to challenge myself...

My grades are
1st QTR: AP Macroeconomics-99, AP English Language 92, AP Spanish Language 94, AP Biology- 81 and AP Calculus AB- 71...and health 96

2nd QTR: AP Macroeconomics-94, AP English Language 98, AP Spanish Language 88, AP Biology- 86, and AP Calculus AB- 65(ouch i know)...and health 97...

I am applying to the College of Arts and Sciences as a Political Science major, so hopefully my math won't kill me since it's not really something I'm going to be doing much of in college

Yes you must send your mid year report. If your into the school they won't revoke your admissions for the grades you have listed. I got a B-in pre-calc and am here.

do they like consider mid year grades in on your admission decision ?

I believe they do. Final grades are only looked at if its HORRIBLE , but yes, they do look at mid-years.

So are mine that bad with the 71 in the 1st qtr and 65 in the second qtr for ap calculus ?

I'll be blunt, the 65 is pretty bad. How did you let yourself get a D?

I did really bad on the midterm and it messed up my whole quarter grade

equine, do you think it is something that could mess up my chances of being admitted ?

What are your general stats? gpa/sat's, etc. also, are you applying for engineering or general arts and sciences?

here ill repost this from my other thread...I'm applying to the college of arts and sciences as a political science major

I think my essay was very good and so were my recommendations

I've seen the campus and was interviewed there a couple days ago, I thought the interview went very well.

also AP Scholar with honor

Well, with the 100+ weighted gpa I'm gonna say it looks good. I'll assume that doesn't count your recent grades. Your SAT's are a bit below the average. You have an okay chance--not definetly yes or no. You'll just have to wait it out and see. It's funny how you won a math award, and now math seems to be your worst subject (calc and a 2 on the stats ap).

random tip for AP Econ (from someone who got 5's on both), bring blue and black ink so you can use different colors to show shifts. By the rules they don't want different colors, but almost all of the graders appreciate it.

yeaa i used to be good in math before it got into the very advanced stuff... The weighted GPA doesnt count this years grades,,, and isn't my SAT like atleast in the middle, because i see there percentiles are 600-670 for verbal (636 avg),,, 630-710 for math(666 avg) and 630-680 for writing...especially since I'm applying for political science in CAS and I was assuming that there engineering program may pull up the sat averages somewhat because it is more competitive.

Thanks yea I do good in economics, I'd like to get a 5 too, I'll take your tip, that makes sense with all the different lines you need to draw

Yeah, they are in the middle range. I'm just saying they're not high enough to guarntee you admissions.

yeaa...so you go to bucknell now, what are you majoring in and also how did your ap credits transfer to college, for instance for your 5 in ap eco, did that place you out of any classes or anythign ?

Yes, I do. I'm majoring in Econ with a minor in English (creative writing) and maybe a minor in philosophy. Two of my four AP credits transfered--US history and one of my Econ's. I didn't get credit for my english one because it was a 3, not a 4, and they only give credit for one Econ, not both. I recieved a social science credit for my history AP, and an elective credit for my econ AP. Because I recieved a 5 on BOTH Econ AP's I could have written a letter to the econ department explaining why I wanted to place out of the intro class, but it would have been a big hassel, and I didn't have as much economic history in my HS classes as we were going to learn in the intro class, so I just went for the easy A (and it was an easy A) and took the intro class. Right now I'm in Intermedeate micro econ and just got my butt kicked by my first test, but I still love the subject--it's a bit shocking going from knowing EVERYTHING to knowing basically the same as everyone else, and so I got cocky and didn't study as much as I should've. My History AP got me out of one social sciences requirment, so the AP's are worth every penny. Basically they just get you out of requirments.

haahh yeaa I like econ..thats good with the ap stuff, I want to do a double major in political science and econ.... by the way, this is off topic kinda but when I was on the tour the guide told me that I could take an economics class in place of taking any kind of calculus courses, to satisfy my math requirements, is that correct ?

no, thats bull. If you want to major in Econ you must take Calc 1 or Calc foundations.
