Midyear Reports?

OMG. i applied to jhu, northwestern, harvard, stanford, and princeton

DID WE HAVE TO SEND IN MIDYEAR REPORTS!?

I'm not sure, but I sent them anyway.

Maybe, other people didn't send them.

My report had 2 As in AP classes, 2 Bs in AP classes, and an A in an upper 200 level French class.

If you are not kidding, then GET ON THE BALL FAST! Yes, for Harvard and Northwestern at least, you HAD to send in midyear reports. Contact the schools as quickly as possible and ask if you can fax it right away. I know Northwestern said it is not accepting additional documentation any longer, but since the rest of your app is in, (I'm assuming) maybe they will be nice about it?
I would check to see if your guidance counselor has gotten any e-mails regarding any missing application materials (have you?) because they will usually contact you during February to let you know (well everyone except for Northwestern will...sorry, I'm bitter).

Edit: Alright, so I reread my post and realized it sounded a bit dramatic, but I know that the schools I applied to (Yale, in particular) were very demanding of a midyear report. My GC forgot to send them and said she'd do it on Monday because our registrar who prints official transcripts is sick, but I doubt the Ivies will look upon this well (especially since decisions should be out soon).

ok, im not trying to be overtly optimistic here, but i personally received NOTHING!

on my harvard application status and the one on NW, it says everything has been received. on NW's app status it also says:

"Rest assured that if we are missing anything necessary to complete your application, we will notify you in mid-February to give you the opportunity to send in the materials."

finally, stanford and princeton also sent me notification that everything necessary had been received.

i mean, all 5 of the colleges wouldnt just ignore me and throw me in a pile of rejects...thats just illogical..they woulda told me if they needed anything

Dude!!! you suppose to send that during early Feb...

uh....I don't know wt to say right now, but you might need to contact the admission office. Otherwise, you are screwed..!

Odd. Well, I know that some websites don't even mention the midyear, but I heard they consider it retty important. However, if you haven't received a single notification, I'd just send it in the mail as soon as you can.

Oh? How did I not know about this? Ah, well.

For Stanford:

Mid-Year School Report

Once your first semester or trimester of grade 12 is completed and your grades have been posted, please give the Mid-Year School Report to your current school counselor to complete. This form allows your counselor to update us on your senior year academic performance as well as any other significant additions to or changes in your extracurricular or character record since the Secondary School Report was submitted.

If your school has year-long courses, with no grades until the end of the year, we will need some sort of mid-year evaluation of your academic progress.

In all cases, your Mid-Year School Report must be submitted no later than March 1.
Your counselor will need to mail these forms directly to our office, please download the form from the Common Application website and provide your counselor with the appropriate Stanford mailing label.

You should've gotten something saying what's missing from your file.

Weird, wouldn't Harvard contact this kid if his midyear was missing?

I didn't get this from stanford!!
In fact, none of the universities contacted me about my midyear (which is going to be faxed this monday, so late, I know!).
Now I am really shivering. I hope I don't get rejected cos my "application was incomplete".

^ Nah... if they reject you, it won't be because of a missing midyear report. They'll probably contact your GC and ask for it to be sent immediately.

i will contact them on monday i guess because theyre not available on the weekends, but i received nothing from any schools and i would think at least one of them would say something?

Apparently, mid-year reports are optional. Three of the students at my school are applying to one or more of the colleges the OP is applying to; one sent in a mid-year report while the other two did not. They never got any notification and the colleges didn't seem to have any issues...

As a side question, would sending in mid-year reports be looked upon as a sign of interest and enthusiasm by colleges...no matter how bad? For example, I sent in mid-year reports, though some of my grades had fallen. All of my friend's grades, on the other hand, had fallen considerably though he chose to "hide" these grades by not sending a mid-year report to the same college. Do you think colleges will realize this, or did I make a bad move? :(

My counselor got contacted by Stanford because some transcripts from some college classes I took were missing. Also, they started talking more about me (which could be like a way to learn more about me for their process).

Sometimes, universities contact people for this information.

Yes, I would call each individual campus to check, if a midyear report is needed. I sent my reports around Feb. 20.

I've always heard that first semester senior year grades are just as important as those in junior year. Is this not the case???

I got a likely letter from Harvard in December. I just sent my midyear report this week since our 2nd trimester grades just came out. Am I screwed? I didn't apply anywhere else.

Mid-years really are not all that important. If the school wants them, they will call.

UChicago, Reed, UNC-CH, and Deep Springs never got mine, though I got into all of them.

Wesleyan on the other hand wanted them, they called my school and got them.
