Hey I just got into Notre Dame and am really curious about some of the minor programs they have there. I am pretty sure I am going to major in something business related like Management Entrepreneurship but I am also interested in some other fields as a minor. Would anyone recommend taking a minor or two at ND or is it just too much work to handle? I took a lot of tough courses in high school so I think I can handle some extra courses but I don't want to overload Junior and Senior year. Specifically, does anyone know anything about the Business Economics minor or the Latino Studies minor? Thanks!

Minors usually only require 15 credits or so. Majors are usually 30 I think. If you are smart with scheduling, you can put the courses required for your minor into your elective spaces and won’t have to have a terribly difficult schedule. I did a dual degree (BS in biochem and BA in Chinese) with the honors program added on (not a real minor, but requires about the same number of credits) and I didn’t have to overload.

Business Economics is a brand new minor for students with a major in Arts and Letters. It requires you to take microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, intro to accounting, and intro to finance. It’s supposed to prove the fundamentals of business to non-business students. Usually, it’s hard to take classes in Mendoza if you are not in that college.

I am currently planning on having one major and 2 minors, and I don’t feel overwhelmed and am positive I will be able to fit all my credits in. I wouldn’t worry about it yet, because the First Year of Studies program allows you to experiment a lot and take a broad range of classes, and the advisors really help you decide what you want to do.
