MIT Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES)

On my last essay (Please describe a personal, social, or academic challenge you have faced and overcome) I talked about having seizures (complex partial, not bad) since seventh grade. I wrote how I used to have them every two weeks, but now since my new medication I haven't had one in six months. I can't drive, loose memory (including about school/even when I do't have seizures), become tired (I mentioned this in more detail). Do yo think they'll freak out and not let me in?? Should I e-mail them about it?

At my school the semester report cards come around the week following the MITES application due date-what should I do?
Would it be possible to fax or mail the grades when I get them?
Any help appreciated.

Just wondering, do you need to have completed certain classes to apply?
I'm only in Alg II/Trig
and I haven't taken Physics yet because I'm taking AP Chem, and there's basically no room on my schedule

simplyjuil, I think your classrank will complement you psat.

does anyone know how much weight does MITES place on the essays?

Emmanualcarro: I'm applying for the 2009 program too, and from what I've heard on this thread and read on their website, I think the essays are very important.

Melody224, I'm in your same boat, except mine may be here by the friday before the deadline, how nerve racking! I would E-mail the MITES program using the email address on the "contact us" portion of the site (mites@mit.edu) and tell them about your situation. Surely they will not punish you for what is not in your hands.

On essay 3 (How has your racial or ethnic identity affected your academic development? How has it influenced your aspirations?) I talked more about being Muslim in post 9-11 US than about being hispanic. What do you think???

simplyjuil, lets hope for the best then! I'm also applying but I think my essays are my weak point.
Does anyone think I have a chance? I know these posts are annoying but I'm really nervous
