MIT MITES Summer 2014

I wanted to throw something when I found out MITES was delaying the results to mid-april

@luckystar888 does your school have a certain college-planning website? For example, my school uses Naviance, and it automatically gives students a printable resume so that’s what I used.

@engineering2015

Our school uses naviance too! Thanks for reminding me.

@luckystar888

Wait decisions were delayed!?

I don’t think decisions were necessarily delayed; they’re still coming out in April, perhaps the MITES staff just specified the decisions release date from “in April” to “mid-April.”

In either case they’re still coming out in April :P

lol yeah it seems like they always send out MITES decisions around the same week. At least last year I got my decision on the 11th and the year before that it was I believe the 12th. Should be only like two more weeks of waiting for y’all xD

^Also, I kinda just found this thread now and just wanted to wish you all good luck! MITES is truly an unforgettable experience where you will not only learn a lot, but also grow to feel like part of a family along with all your peers(truly amazing people!), TAs, and all the staff that run the program. Even if you get rejected, that doesn’t say much about you, I know several people who were rejected to MITES but got admitted to MIT, HYPS etc. and people who went to MITES who got rejected from those same schools (like me!) :p

I got my E2 decision in the 10th last year :)

Did you guys get your decisions by mail or electronically?

Well I got an email telling me that my MITES application had been given a decision and to check my online portal. Then I had to scavenge for the url and the application portal redirected me to my decision letter.

Oh okay - I heard some people had gotten their decisions by mail. Well, I will look forward to April 10ish XD

I thought knowing the date of the decision would make me calmer, but it makes me strangely more nervous!!

@AmaranthineD
Was your application deadline to MITES/E2 also extended. Should we expect a later date since our deadline was extended?

Yep, they extended the deadline last year and the year before that :p

Wait, so is it by email or mail? I personally like mail better because it’s not as abrupt haha. Also, is it just the acceptance ones that get sent out first?

They extend the deadlines every year! It is an email that directs you to a portal. And I’m pretty sure all decisions are released at once.

Can’t wait for decisions! I also applied and got into RSI so I’m not overly worried about what my decision is here.

@WxNation Have fun at RSI! Unless you are planning on going to MITES if you get in.

Also guys, can you get waitlisted for MITES?

@WxNation If I had gotten into RSI, I wouldn’t even care about a MITES decision! That’s great though, I hope you have fun wherever you choose to go this summer.

Now everyone is coming out of the woodwork… I was starting to wonder where all of the other applicants were.

@WxNation Congrats!!! That’s insane… I didn’t even apply to RSI because I knew it would be impossible for me
Would you choose MITES over RSI?

The mutual anxiety is bringing us all together lol

The best thing about mites is that it’s free!! I’m trying to find a free summer program or internship
