I don’t know, that would be a pretty major glitch then.

From what I read from kmichelle, the original one who reported the change, the notification saved in her activity log because she’d pressed “edit”. It CHANGED/UPDATED this morning, which allowed her to click into a denial letter that was addressed to her. The sudden change to people who saved it to their activity log (and therefore were able to keep viewing it unlike the rest of us), the whole deal with the “Standard Denial” thing only applying to about half of us at the time, and the letter with her direct name makes me believe that they were probably accurate.

Yeah I doubt the MITES team would post decisions at different times since they know we have access to our accounts because of the earlier glitch.

I just emailed them to see whether it was part of the glitch or an official denial. It’s probably a part of the glitch because it doesn’t make sense for you to have to click edit twice to see the admissions decision. Hopefully they will say that it was just part of the glitch and we’ll be able to postpone our worries until a later time.

…In a way, I kinda wish I clicked “edit” when I had the chance…

Maybe after we get decisions we should just do a survey to see if the previous “standard denial letter” was a glitch or not.

In other words, the survey will just answer the question, “Out of those who did get the “standard denial letter” glitch, did you get accepted or rejected?” If everyone who did receive the glitch answers “rejection” then it’s pretty obvious it wasn’t a glitch, and that OEOP probably tried to mask their mistake. If some people who received the glitched letter answer “accepted” in the survey, then the glitch is truly a just a glitch.

OR the first one was a glitch, and decisions are currently being finalized. They probably didnt anticipate on people still being able to see their status. There’s only a few people that edited it, and with the high chance of rejection, there’s no way of knowing whether the first one was real

All this really sucks…
I hope next year’s applicants don’t have to go through these stages of worry
and constant uncertainty

@ubermika - can you tell me how you got to that message? My app. still has the “standard denial letter” but I can’t reach the same message that you got

Well, now it says on the application “This Application is currently locked from editing,” so I guess they’re going to post decisions soon (at least that’s what I think)

^ Mine says that as well. ^

oh crap I should have responded to those earlier conversations when I had the chance >_>

Anyway, I just logged on and my application changed to “Locked” a couple of hours ago, as previously mentioned in the last two comments. I’m guessing I got rejected since I don’t fit into any URM or related categories and decisions are supposed to be out within a week; it’d make sense that the staff is still filtering out who to reject in the next few days. Ah well. In either case I will be having fun over the summer!

Hi all,

Sorry so many issues are coming up in the system! I’ll be responding to emails tonight/tomorrow as well for those of you who are waiting on those. As far as the continuing glitches I apologize again, I know it’s frustrating (for us as well!!). But I do want to reiterate that final decisions haven’t been entered into the system yet (as the student-worker who gets the honor of doing so ).

My biggest fear is that someone who is actually selected for one of the programs doesn’t think to check their status once we actually do enter them because they saw the glitch in the system and assume they’ve been denied. Now as someone previously mentioned, the odds of that happening are very small due to the limited number of spots we have for the programs, but all the same I want to do what I can to ensure that doesn’t happen.

Any more questions please let me know!

Now, I’m taking off my “OEOP” hat and just want to give you guys some personal advice I received years ago when applying to colleges, and that is fitting here as well!

Decisions will be out soon and I would like to wish you all the best of luck! But remember, this admission decision does NOT define who you are or what you can become. And that’s because the application that you filled out doesn’t come close to defining who you are or what you can become. There is no way you can condense your life, your being, and your wonderfulness into a few essays and some biographical information on a piece of paper. You all are much more than that, and sometimes it’s hard to keep that in mind. But your application and the consequent decision is not a reflection of your worth!

It’s an unfortunate fact, but very true, that so many wonderful students have to be turned away each year because there is simply not enough room. I am definitely not saying don’t be disappointed if you are rejected. Rejection hurts in any form. It’s an unfortunate reality in this process. But I hope you all understand that you are more valuable and wonderful than acceptance OR rejection to school. This does not define you either way. Your character and your awesomeness do.

You guys have worked so hard throughout high school and on your applications to come to this point, and I commend you for your efforts. I just thought I would share to help keep everything in perspective.

:)

@jlwashin Thank you for your assistance and inspiration!

@ubermika do you mind telling me what your nationality and gender is?

I am a Hispanic female.

Since we’re all anxious for decisions, here’s a nice little vid you can watch. (it’s adorable)
Redirecting...;

^that **** should be facebook . com

Geeez stop screwing with your accounts guys XD No need to stress yourselves out before the actual decision :'U.

Acceptances here have no bearing on your college results! I’m good friends w/ a hispanic kid (you know who you are <3 ya) who was rejected from all three programs but got likely letters from Yale, Dartmouth, and Brown, a Berkeley Regents offer, and got into MIT, Columbia, and Harvard regular. He had the most successful applications this year out of anybody I ever knew, OEOP or not XD. Another african american guy got rejected and got into Caltech, uChicago, and MIT EA.

If you are rejected from this, check out the MIT WISE program, which also is extremely exclusive and has a good amount of people get into MIT each year. Another interesting fact about WISE is that it doesn’t(or rarely) accept anyone who has been to E2, MITES, or MOSTEC.

@AmaranthineD Is the MIT WISE for women engineers?? Because it’s funny since our school has a WISE club and it stand for “Women in Science and Engineering.” XD

@Nobody426 For Girls State, if they let us pick roommates from other counties, we should put each other down! That would be sooo awesome. Anyway, I just wish that I knew if I got into MITES or not so then I could sign up for Girls State already. Because doesn’t the 6 week MITES conflict with Girls State? I wouldn’t mind if I went to E2 since that wouldn’t conflict with anything, and if we both got into E2, then it would be awesome because that means I would know someone at Girls State and E2!! XD

And is everyone assuming the MITES admission board is entering the decisions into our account since everyone is locked out of their account?
