ACT is out!
I got a 28 on Science and a 36 Math/Reading and 35 English. How can I improve Science for MIT?

@luckystar888 They are very different. I had to study very separately for them. Chem was my worst subject and I got a 4 on the exam by doing like a practice AP exam like a day for a month ._______. and a 720 on the subject test using Princeton Review and the official study guides.

Pro tip: It still helps to take the SAT II right after the AP exam, so take it in June. I retook Chem after a summer of (admittedly not hardcore) studying and got 710 ._________________.

I’ve been studying a lot for the chem exam and I’m so worried about the changed format of the test. Its supposed to be harder I got a B last semester so hopefully I’ll do alright on the exam. I haven’t gotten my ACT results yet though! I really wanna know!

Does the subject test include organic and electro? I’M taking SL IB Chen andwe’ve covered everything except those two topics so I’m kind of worried:P. I’m sure I could pick them up if need be though.

Anybody feeling a 22nd release? Or are we pretty much set on the 25th?

I’m pretty sure the 25th

I’m feeling 24-25 at this point, yeah. Eugh.

@AmaranthineD do you think I"ll be fine if I take the SAT subject test for chem in May? I already signed up for SAT math 2 and SAT Chem for May 3rd and my ap chem test is May 5th. I figured that I was already studying so it would be easier… But now I’m worried…

@luckystar888 We are on the same boat buddy! I, too, am taking the SAT II Chemistry on May 3 along with Math Level 2. On May 5 I’m also taking the AP exam. I’m using SparkNotes for the SAT subject tests. I’m using a newly updated version of Princeton Review for Chemistry that includes topics that might be included in the new AP Chem. test.

I’m on the same boat as well.

@Varanasi As far as I’m aware, no. I think a safer bet right now is the 25th. At the moment MIT is on a long weekend for Patriots’ Day.

25th comes around “oops, did we say this Friday? We meant next Friday. Sorry for the confusion.” ;-;

Do any of you have a good recommendation for an AP Calculus AB review book? Should I just invest in Barron’s even though it has BC included?

As far as I know, most books clump AB and BC together. You’ll probably end up taking BC anyway, so get the book with both if you can.

@SigmaVGC Yay! more people are in my situation, so it makes me a little happier. This weekend, I’m gonna really try to plow though this chem stuff. And is sparknotes helpful for the SAT Chem? I haven’t bought anything for AP Chem, but I have a Barron’s book for SAT Chem, will that be enough? And do you recommend the Princeton Review for AP chem? How is the book so far? Should I buy it immediately?!?! And this is the one you’re talking about right?

To be honest guys, I think I’m going to buy this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0738611549/sr=1-3/qid=1398126130/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1398126130&seller=&sr=1-3

My chem teacher highly recommended it, so I’m going to buy it, and lots of the reviews say its updated for the test. Just wanted to share the link tho!

I got the newest edition of the Barron’s ap chem review book and it’s pretty good. There are a few errors in the practice questions, but overall I like it.

@luckystar888 I am using that exact book for AP chem this year and it is pretty darn good! As long as you have at least a loose grasp of the material the crash course will fill in the holes in your knowledge (and it’s a super short read! took me like 5 hours)

I honestly love 5 steps for a 5 for every ap including chemistry. It’s thinner than most review books but gets to the point. Considering how well you’re doing for the mocks 5 steps to a 5 is more than enough. and as for the SAT chem, since you will know most (if not all) the material for the SAT chemistry I’d just get a college board book for SAT chem and just practice the questions for the exam.

@luckystar888 I haven’t tried Spark notes for chemistry yet but I tried it for Math Level 2 and it is helping a lot! Although I am already mathematically talented, I find it useful. Also, that link for the Princeton Review is outdated. There is a newer version that has been updated to include new format material. It has two practice exams, and it is really easy to understand the content. I love it so far. Crash Course might be the best choice since the exam is in 2 weeks! But Princeton Review is always an option.

Experience: I have looked at Princeton, Barron’s, and 5 steps to a 5 for chem and 5 steps is better for the questions and is more concise.
