MITES 2012 Information and Discussion

Does someone who got in last year want to read a rough draft of one of my essays and see if it is too casual or not? I don’t want to write them all this way and then have to start over. I don’t have much experience with writing this kind of essay.

@coffeeandtea- I’m a proud alum! Feel free to PM me :)

Hi I’m applying to MITES this year and I was wondering if any alumni would share what a typical day is like for a MITES attendee? Thanks!

Hey guys, Im a little confused. Even though the website said the deadline is extended to Feb 10. But in the apply part the deadline doesnt change. So does the website.

So when is deadline for students to submit the application?
Can someone answer my question?

I too am confused about the deadline. I trust that they made necessary adjustments, but only that one notification says it’s 2/10 now.

I also have a more pressing issue: I do not have a paper report of my SATs (only PSAT), and so now I’m really worried about how I’m going to send my SAT scores to MITES. I read through this and last years’ threads, and honestly I haven’t gotten anything helpful. I don’t know how to send scores from collegeboard to their email, mites@mit.edu , and even if I could send them as if I were applying to MIT, I read that collegeboard takes about 4 weeks to send scores. Is there any way for me to send an official report of my SAT score to MITES before the deadline? Is a semi-official report good enough (i.e. my guidance counselor has access to my scores (which are automatically received from collegeboard, not inputted by me), which I assume she mentioned in her letter) and I should just scan/email the PSAT score?

I really hope the deadline has actually been changed, because 2/3 of my recommenders haven’t sent theirs yet because of the deadline change… also because I’m not done with my essays.

They say on their site that you can just send your scores in to the MITES office as soon as you get them, that’s what i’m doing. dont panic

@knitswim: Thank you so much! The schedule on the mites website was blanked out so it was nice to see a schedule.

The recommendation checklist for my counselor said for her to upload all of my score reports so that’s what she did. I didn’t send in my score reports or anything personally. I would ask your counselors to submit your score reports for ACT, PSAT, PLAN, etc.

Almost done with the app! definitely don’t think i’m qualified enough but oh well might as well try right?

Are we allowed to send them our January 28th SAT scores once they come out?

Yes we are.

Also, the box now says February 10th, so that should put some of your minds at ease.

do you think there’d be a way to access and edit one’s application after it was submitted? i rushed mine, so my teachers would have a nice, large window to upload their recommendations, but now i realized i made a bunch of dumb mistakes, and i think if i went through and revised my essays, it’d do a lot for my chances…

How do I send my ACT scores? I don’t have a paper report… Only online.

@LesleyCordero Send your ACT as if you were sending it to MIT as your college through the online webpage!

@shostakovich95 Oh really? Lol, alright, thanks! :)

How should I send in my transcript? Should I scan it… Or should I have the school mail it directly to MIT? If so, what address?

My counselor does not process PSAT, etc. score reports. Is there something special I have to do?
