Money, Money, Money

No one has heard anything about scholarships right? (at least I didn't via email)

nope, if you do lemme know lol

You probably won't hear until mid to late December, at the earliest.

jjjjjj89 stats:
3.8 UM UW GPA
34 ACT
OOS, Illinois, Asian

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high. My buddy had a 4.0 and 34 from Chicago, he got nothing. I had a 4.0 and 33 in-state, $1500. I really think that U-M scholarship range is 35/36 & 4.0. U-M doesn't give out too many academic scholarships, but when you think of how many students are here, it means there are actually quite a few people with those kind of numbers, and they are really the only ones who get the scholarships.

...oh, i thought he meant alumni scholarships, etc. yeah, merit awards are probably only for like the top 5% or something, that's how it is at some other good schools.

how much money do you think they give to a 35 4.0 IS kid?

ironically i just a $!500 one from u of m in the mail today about 1/2 hour after previous post

That was my son, 35, 2300, 4.0, IS. He got $1,500 on-time, plus $10k a year LSA Dean's scholarship.

31, 2020, 3.7 michigan tradition 10,000 a year yay!! just found out today!

You guys do know that scholarships aren't as simple as GPA + ACT score, right? There's a lot more to it than that.

Congratulations jenyy790!

Just in case there are those who are confused regarding the Michigan Tradition Award, here's a link to a page that describes it and many other awards and scholarships at Michigan.

jenny: do they just contact you, or do you have to apply for it? cuz i'm from a very under-represented area w/in SD, i'm the first ever from my hs to attend, etc., and i think my stats are pretty good (similar to yours, w/higher GPA). or do you have to be like a minority or something (no offense)?

but anyway, congrats, that's awesome!

oh yeah, do you have to do the CSS and fafsa before they consider you for anything?

They consider you for scholarships before the deposit is in, right?

yes they consider u be4 the deposit is in (mine is not), yes they consider u be4 css and fafsa (mine is not), and no u do not have to be a minority at all that is not even one of the considerations, the diversity is in regard to neighborhoods, schools, and socioeconomic status

S received a letter awarding him the Regents - $1500 (one-time), today.

k, thanks jenny, that was really helpful. congrats again! are you headed to michigan for sure?

yeah probaly now lol

sweet! what was your second choice? go blue!

I received regents last week...pathetic. Looks like it won't be UMICH for me.
Have any instaters received Dean's, SHipman, or other MERIT BASED aid yet?

Nah, I'm a little surprised. I'm instate, 35, 4.0, 2360, and no money at all yet.

Question- do these scholarships show up under Wolverine Access? Did they email you?
