First of all, congratulations to those who got in!
I got deferred and all the people I know who didn't get in also got deferred. Does Hopkins defers more applicants than it rejects?

I would have loved to go there! I unfortunately got rejected, and it still hurts a little to think about it. Just wondering, what were ur stats?

I’m not sure exactly how it works today, but when I used to volunteer with Admissions, they did not “courtesy defer” everyone who wasn’t accepted like some other schools do; instead, they only deferred the applicants who they thought stood a reasonable chance of being admitted during the RD cycle.

I got deferred as well. Tanman is right though, Hopkins doesn’t just defer all those who didn’t make it, they reject those that they don’t believe have a reasonable chance of getting accepted during Regular Admissions.

ED admit rate this year = 38%. Approximately 10% of applicants this year were deferred. So to answer the question … NO, there are not more deferrals than rejections.
