Morrill Scholars Program 2014

For all of the people applying, I figured this may be helpful

S is applying for this. He hasn’t started the essay and it is due 11/1.

I’m somewhat in the same boat, except I have the whole thing outlined and ready to be filled in. I’m just extremely nervous and intimidated by it and have no idea how I’ve even gotten this far in writing it. Lol. As long as it’s in by Nov 1st, he should be good

I’m waiting for the essay topic to flow to me

Good idea. Are you guys doing honors or scholars at all as well?

I feel much better knowing I’m not alone. D: Just a tad bit nervous about whether or not my essay will “hook” them or not.

Do you have to be a minority to get it?

From their website:

MSP Consideration
The MSP is a very competitive diversity scholarship. Recipients of the MSP scholarship typically rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating classes and have an ACT composite score of 28 or higher or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1260 or higher. Recipients also tend to possess strong backgrounds and/or experiences that will greatly enhance campus diversity.

I think you can be from the Ohio Appalachian region to be qualified as a minority, as well

if i am a minority and i have the required test scores but am not in the top 10% ( my class is very competitive) does it affect my chances a lot?

I’m not sure, to be honest. I’m in the same boat you are though. I think for Morrill they look more at thing’s outside of stats, though.

Acceptances have started and s reports his classmate posted a pic of her letter on Instagram.

Any idea about msp offers and if they do interviews?

Wait, acceptances have started??? I just messaged my admissions counselor today and he said that they start tomorrow? And yes, MSP does have interviews, but only for those selected as candidates for the Distinction Level, and I don’t think we’ll find out about that for a while.

Acceptance for the school start tomorrow!?!?

Yes, my admissions counselor told me that acceptances will go out (online) today, but if yours isn’t in tomorrow it will be in the first week of January

Any idea when they’re going to announce MSP finalists? I applied for it and have already been accepted to OSU but haven’t seen anything about MSP anywhere.

Funny you ask that, I literally just asked my admissions counselor about that and he said late March/early April!

Oh boy, that’s a long wait! Thank you :)!

I know!! The suspense!

Anybody get this email today?:
