Jan 31!!! Ahhhhhhhh

Will the messages be forward to our personal email because I havent been able to access my buckeye email

My S received the same email as icegems91. Hopefully he hears something Jan. 31st. but it sounds like they have til March 31st to notify students. Good luck to everyone!!!

the email sent from ODI came to our personal email account.

My dd got the identical email. We redirected her buckeye email to send to our personal email. No idea what kind of scores, etc they’re looking for, but I guess we’ll find out by March 31.

I got it twice. I thought maybe one went to my personal account and one to my OSU email, but since I routed my OSU email to my personal email that was why. Did this happen to anyone else?

Yes, got the same email twice as well.

Alright cool

I just received an email stating that I have received the Morrill Excellence award without even an interview or any notification stating that I was a finalist. Is this a scam?

jshin2004 - The email we received said notifications would be sent out Jan 31 - March 31, so it seems a couple days early. Have you checked your OSU account to see if it shows up there? Not sure that it will, but that’s a thought.

Jshin2004- congratulations. Excellence is full tuition right?? That is awesome.

Congratulations jshin2004! Your family should take you out for a nice dinner for saving on college cost.
Wishing you all the best in your academic endeavors, whether you go to OSU or elsewhere!

Would you mind sharing your stats, please? Thanks.

I found an old information sheet on Morrill’s that said interviews were only on the Distinction level not the Excellence. I have not been able to find that currently on OSU’s website. So not sure if that still applies. It was dated 2009.

Thank you everyone! This was the email that I received

“Dear [First_Name]: Congratulations! On behalf of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and its ODI Scholars Program, I am thrilled to announce that you have been selected to receive its prestigious Morrill Scholars Program Excellence Scholarship. The Excellence Scholarship is an award that is the value of in-state tuition and covers up to 18 hours per semester. It incorporates the value of any merit award scholarship that had previously been communicated to you by Undergraduate Admissions. Further, merit award scholarships will not be stacked on top of (or in addition to) the Excellence Scholarship. The Excellence Scholarship is renewable for a total of 8 undergraduate semesters of full time enrollment provided that you maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. This will be assessed at the conclusion of your second year of study at Ohio State and every year thereafter. Your scholarship benefit will end, if you complete your bachelor’s degree requirements in fewer than 8 semesters (or the equivalent). As an ODI Scholar, you will have the opportunity to participate in a host of academic enrichment experiences, such as study abroad, undergraduate research, career development and professional/graduate school preparation. Many of our ODI Scholars (i.e., Morrill Scholars) are recognized on campus as leaders, researchers, and scholars along with representing ODI as ambassadors of excellence through diversity. In addition, based on your academic excellence and advocacy for equality and democracy, your application has been advanced to the next round of reviews to be considered for the Morrill Scholars Program premier award, the Distinction Scholarship. To accept the Excellence scholarship, please submit your Ohio State acceptance fee to Undergraduate Admissions by Thursday, May 1, 2014.”

Got an email today. My D got the Morrill Scholarship!!! White girl from NJ!

I got the same exact email as jshin2004. It does not include my actual first name, and it was released two days earlier than the expected date of notification. Does this not seem a bit fishy to anyone? I don’t want to start celebrating until I know for sure that this was not an accident.

Did you guys hear you got the scholarship from your personal email or the buckeyemail thing? Because for some reason it won’t let me log into by buckeyemail (even though I know I’m using the same exact ID and password as to log in to my student center). But congrats to those who got the scholarship!

My D received an email today saying she received the Morrill Scholars Program Prominence Scholarship. We are out of state. Although it does not mention her name, I think it is legitimate. We will verify.

Does anyone know how competitive this scholarship how many people are awarded this annually?

I believe that approx 500 per year are awarded out of approx 2000 applicants. My daughter emailed her regional recruiter and he congratulated her so my best guess is that notifications went out early this year. Best guess, judging from prior year posts is that the notifications will continue into March.
