Hey all! I got a 236 on the PSAT in Texas and am ecstatic. However, I am probably moving sometime over the summer. Will I have to contact the National Merit program to make sure my info is switched to my new school in California? After spending time preparing for the PSAT, I think my worst fear is not getting named a Semifinalist/Finalist (and thus not getting free ride to the school I'm looking at) because the info got lost somewhere in Texas.. Hopefully none of this will be a problem at all, but it is something that I'm curious about.

Since you took the test in TX you will be subject to the TX cut-off even if you will live in another state next year.

You have two potential issues: receiving your materials for applying for NMSF and obtaining your school’s (principal’s) support of your application. I am not sure what NMSF would prefer in regard to the latter–support from your old school or your new one. My advice would be to call them at (847) 866-5100 in the spring after you receive your “top-scorer” notice and explain your situation. They will be quite helpful and advise you on how you should handle both these issues. If the process still fails in some way, follow-up with a call in mid-September after the NMSF list is released.
