She also spoke to the Acting major side of things. No overall numbers were given (except that they will accept 9/9=18) this year, BUT she did indicate that they do use a “yield” formula for Acting, where a higher number of offers are made to get a desired number of acceptances. This is not the case for MT. Also, from an observational perspective, there were about 1/3 as many boys as girls.
@lojosmo parents are told that the academic requirement is met at the time of prescreen. So you are correct in that some are rejected at prescreen level due to academics. But once that hurdle is passed, you would have the 5% odds.
I think you are correct @entertainersmom Now that you mention it I think there are 5 girls and we know there are 2 guys. Dr John posted numbers from years ago, not sure if he only counts the numbers that passed the prescreen or not but its in the Otterbein section somewhere. I think I heard once they got about 600 prescreens but a few people on here felt stronger that was too high of a number. I am determined to ask next year at the parents brunch, I forgot this year!

I know folks have posted numbers they heard during parent talks in other threads, please post here - I can add or you can. Post number of applications (before prescreen) after prescreen if you have them, number of offers, and number of waitlist (if known).
Boston Conservatory told D they have 700 applicants and look for a class of 60. I was also told by a current student that the current freshman class ended up being 50 kids, of which 5 kids have already dropped out so they are down to 45 now.

I’m just noticing the Emerson stats of 13 women and 1 man. That seems rather odd and unusual!
Emerson said they don’t try to have the same amount of males and females.
I understand, but that really is so unbalanced that I would wonder what it is like for the young man, as well as how it affects scene study work, as well as casting of plays/musicals. Many programs don’t have the same amount of males and females, but 13 to 1 seems atypically unbalanced.
Someone posted somewhere (somewhat recently) the number of OfFERS Boston Conservatory makes to yield their class of 60. (Well last year the yield was apparently 50). Maybe it was @Calliene? Whoever it was, please post, Thanks!
Sometimes programs will accept an unbalanced ratio of males and females in the freshman class to fix gender imbalances in the department from the upperclassmen classes.

- This was the total number of offers actually made last year to yield their class of 12. ** 2014 Number of Applicants ***These numbers directly from Michelle at FSU (refer to FSU schools thread). She did not recall the number of applications received, but she knows they set audition appointments for aprox 240 every year, and somewhere between 220-240 actually complete the audition.
I’m a current student at Fredonia! We have 14 freshman MT students this year. 10 girls, 4 boys.
I’m not positive, but we get roughly 200-250 applicants and audition 150-200.
Thank you! Can you share how many offers were made to Yield
your class of 14? Is there a waitlist?
How reliable are those UMich app and call back numbers? 850/350-400
From the admissions person at the audition parent info session. She was asked by a parent how many applied and how many passed pre-screen this year. “Around 850” and “between 350 and 400” were her answers.
That was this year? Or last?
This year… Jan. 23rd. It was the Asst Dean of Admissions for the department.
