I've been in my school's model un club for the best 3 years and have had a blast. I've won a couple of awards on the way as well. At the BU/MIT conferences, I've won honorable mention the last two years in a row. But this year in NYC in the UN-USA conference in NYC in the UN, I won best delegation. Will this help me significantly in college admissions?

Yes. 10char. PM me.

there's awards for MUN?

"Will this help me significantly in college admissions?" This is all relative of course. Congratulations but know that others have honors in their pursuits as well. Does it help you "significantly"? Depending on the schools you're targeting, it probably places you on the level playing field -- due to the high calibre of your competition. Good luck to you

infinite. If you do well in your committee, you'll get an award.

Yes, T26E4 has a legit point. But, if you're getting an award at a prestigious conference, colleges might realize the caliber of your competition.

Just being in MUN?.. No... It is a very typical EC..for many applicants...... I really don't know the caliber of the award you got / how competitive MUN is.. ..but if you manage to get a good award that not many people can get, then that's going to help alot.

i was at national model un in nyc this year too! im also from MA, i was micronesia, lol. but anyway, i guess it could help you a little but since it was your whole school's delegation and not just you, i dont really know to what extent it would help on your applications.

p.s. what committee were you in?

Hey GreenDayFan, I one with my one with my co delegate, not the school. It was best delegation for GA: Regonal. Trinidad and Tobago on Global Warming. Easiest topic ever. Which committee were you in?

i was just wondering...
how much of a boost would you get in colleges if you were
1. in SC (once as a vito) for two years
2. acted as Secretary General in Southeast Asia Intl MUN conference?

I think I vaguely remember the Trinidad and Tobago delegation, we were Ireland this year at NYC

I was in SOCHUM

I guess it depends on which conference you were in, cause there are, I don't know, thousands of conferences each year, a lot of which run the SC. But being on the SC at THIMUN, for example, pwns being on the SC at a local MUN like the one my school runs.

Being the SG in any conference is great, but the fact that it's Southeast Asia and international makes it even greater. :)
