I cannot wait for this week / month to be over and decisions made! My D is sailing through her days, without a care in the world. On the other hand, I can’t focus or keep my mind on any single task for more than a few minutes, This process is worse, and more painful than childbirth!
LOL, @momo2x2018 I completely agree.
S1 has applied to law schools and I am the one constantly waiting for news. There’s no set date on which schools release decisions either. Many students are waitlisted and don’t find out till August. Arrrgh.
…and I’m hoping for good news from internships D applied to for this summer. It never ends, but I can say it does seem to get less and less anxiety-producing as the years pass
Waiting to hear about son’s graduate school acceptance. I thought I was over all this nonsense.
I envy the parents who are able to check their child’s portal. My son never gives me his passwords so I have to wait calmly for him to get around to checking his status, even when I know results are out. It’s probably better this way. :-w
You think you have anxiety now, wait until they graduate in four years. Every well adjusted capable kid here will go somewhere and most but not all will graduate…then what. I held my breath 3 times during freshman year and 2 times at graduation. The applying and picking one of the acceptances is the easy part! My suggestion now that the apps are in and we are fast approaching the “picking season” is to start thinking about the summer fun and the budget.
I was cleaning out a drawer this morning and came across her birth announcement. Where did the years go?
momo2x2018 maybe your anxiety is about changes coming, your daughter leaving and so on. Once you know exactly where she is going, you can deal with that in specifics and it will get easier.
While waiting, distraction helps a lot of us, walks and Netflix.
momofthreeboys is right, life is full of this waiting…for undergrad, grad, internships, jobs, medical tests…and we do get better at it.
I feel the same way momo2. Did this two years ago with my son who is a sophomore now. Thank goodness I only have 2. I agree with the above poster. Keep busy, exercise take walks with good friends. We all want the best for our kiddos, Good luck,
