Hey I'm a African American senior. I got a W 4.25 GPA and UW 3.9. SAT is 1960. I have decent EC's (coaching a soccer team, dancing, athletic trainer, tutoring etc.)

What do you think my chances are for getting into the UC's specifically UCLA, Berkeley, San Diego along with UChicago, Vanderbilt, NYU, Washington in St. Louis?

Any helpful comments are always appreciated.

Very high chances for all. Nice job You have a bright 4 years ahead of you.

You’re pretty much a match or safety for all of them. i jelly

The only college that might have a chance to is ucsd. Very thing else is like reach for the stars. Don’t listen to the other two guys who commented before me. Ur sat is completely on the low side for all the colleges an plus u don’t have any EC or AP scores. The ONLY thing that might benefit u is ur GPA and ethnicity. I saw u better have many back up colleges or ur gonna get a very rude awekenimg. I’m extremely sorry.

I appreciate the opinion Goblin. I got a 3 on AP euro but 4s on AP Chem and AP calc AB. What advice could you give to help my chances?

I say apply. You never know unless you do. Work on your essays. They do make a difference.

1960 on SAT puts you in top 2% (at least) of AA’s. Thus you are definitely in the ball park anywhere in the country. But being in the ball park does not mean automatic admit or match. To realistically assess your chances it would be helpful to know (a) how rigorous is your curriculum (have you had Calc, 4 years language, and AP science), (b) what is your class rank, and (c) do you attend a neighborhood school or a competitive public/private one?
