My Chances

Hey there,
I'm currently a junior with a 3.5 unweighted GPA taking the hardest course load available (all IB courses). I just took the ACT and probably got a 25-27...and so far my first SAT was 1150. I'm taking the SAT again and will try to raise it at least 100 points. I play football and played lax as a freshmen and sophomore.

My EC's:
School Radio
Honor Council
Community Service (100 hrs)
Peer Education
Football (already mentioned)

I'm considering the following colleges and would appreciate any feedback regarding my chances (Good chance, okay chance, reach, no shot, etc.). Thanks.

Out of State for all schools: UVA, Georgetown, Wake Forest, W&L, Cornell, Davidson, Vandy, and Colgate

Oh yeah, I'm white.

anybody care to respond?

Do You Dare To Entertain Me?!?!

Reach for everything but Wake Forest. Idk what W&L is…

it’s washington and lee

Reach for all except W&L. You’re very strong other than the SAT scores, so if you can bump those up considerably (or get higher ACT scores), a few of those could become decent chances.

alright sounds like a plan, thanks.

You’d have to raise the SAT by about 300/1600 (or 450/2400) to even reach the median SAT scores of accepted students at those schools. You need some safety and target schools.

well i know for a fact that a 1450 is not the median SAT score for over half those schools so…yea

Georgetown and Vandy should be in the mid-1400s this year; that’s probably about right for U.Va. OOS (it’s the in-state applicants that pull the overall median lower); Cornell, Colgate, and W&L should be around 1400; Davidson will be high-1300s if not 1400; and Wake has been around 1340 in the past - should go higher now that the lower scores will opt out since it’s become SAT-optional.
