Sigh.

USChicka, just point out how statistically, the parents of UCLA students have, on average, a higher income than USC students (though they'll never believe you). Also, USC gives more need-based and merit aid than any school in the West.

MrTrojanMan, I was at the USCvUCLA basketball game @ UCLA when we lost. I had a USC sticker on my rear windshield of my Saturn and some frat guy was like "nice car, loser! You're supposed to be rich!" Noticing that he was walking his sorry self back to his house, my response was "great car you've got there yourself!" Angry, he ran up, yelled in my face "At least I'm not a Trojan b**ch!" and kicked my car and ran off. The funny thing is, he was making fun of my car being a Saturn when it was that very fact (as Saturn's have dent-resistant door panels) that saved it from being dented. My poor car and USC sticker have also falled victim to having ice cream smeared all over it, as well as bottles placed under my wheels for when I drive away.

And yes, NO ONE realizes that it's only a small percentage that pay the full 40k for tuition. They don't seem to realize that need-based aid exists at schools not in budget chaos, and that paying a comparable amount for USC means actually being able to register for classes, getting out in 4 years, the best alumni network of any school, and the thousands of other intangible pluses that you can't read about in the Princeton Review. It's ok though, as a fellow Marshall student, I like to think of UCI as a great place to tap if I ever need an administrative assistant.

Yes, UCLA is a great institution, but not only are the vast VAST majority of their students ignorantly blind to the areas in which USC is superior (and I don't mean they reject it because they're rivals, but ignorantly blind), they're often downright mean.

Just look at how often a post pops up on College Confidential disparaging USC... for no reason at all! My favorite is http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=33930&highlight=chancellor . Someone actually took the time to take quotes out of context and somehow think that's a credible way to discredit what many would agree is the best President in higher education.

The rivalry causes ignorance to run rampant on that campus.
